Heyho,

I purchased Bitwig 1.0 back in the day mostly because I wanted to support development and eventually use it for collaboration with the promised Networking feature in 2.0 ... Now I can't find anything regarding the Networking feature in the announcements anymore. What's up with that..? Did it just disappear?

Thanks,
buhrmi

Collaboration
'This feature is planned for future versions of Bitwig Studio'

Would be good to know if that is going to be 2.x or 3.x ...

Rather disappointed now... Looks like the world will have to wait a little longer for a multiplayer DAW.

Because of the new licensing model, it could be 2.1 or 2.2 or any other update. They wrote on the site that major features won't be delayed until big releases anymore but will be released as they are ready. This means that big version numbers won't mean anything anymore. 2.9 might be just as big as 3.0 because features are being released asap. This means they will be constantly improving the software and we get it right away which is a yay.

As a comparison about the new model, I recently purchased a Windows 10 laptop for my secondary laptop. Windows 10 was kind of released with a bit similar model as well, they said that Windows 10 is now a "service". They have major feature updates every 6-12 months or so and these are really big features. It's their way of making a product that is constantly evolving (that's how they explained it) vs the old model of having a major release every 2-3 years with new flagship features. From the business point of view, I can also imagine this is nicer for the users because if you're disappointed with a lack of certain feature in a big release, you don't have to wait for 2-3 years for a second chance but it could be just a month away. Having used Windows 10 (just as a comparison to this new Bigwig model), I really like it. I'm not commenting on the price and affordability but just the joy of getting really big features constantly as they are ready, it really works for me and keeps things fresh.

Now, on the roadmap on the collaboration, I have no idea. They commented on the modular tool in the roadmap page, but I can't remember anything about the collaboration feature in there.

I really would like to hear from the devs about collab feature ... Is it still on the road map? I'm basing my purchase decision on this. Since I really enjoy collaboration but lots of my friends now use ableton, it's a really big question for me.

First worlds problems...

Be grateful for what you have already, everything else is a bonus.

Yes I'm grateful. I'd be also very grateful for an answer from devs about their plans regarding networking feature.
