I voted Z3ta+ but if given a second vote I would have gone for Pentagon 1. I have always enjoyed it's sound. They never made a 64 bit version did they ? I'd install Pentagon 1 again in a heartbeat if they did..... :tu:

I listed Pentagon because the DXi wasn't that stable in 64 bit and I'd like to see a 64 bit VSTi. There are also a lot of things I think they could do with it.

Rapture Pro would have been my second choice. There were a lot of missed opportunities with that one, and it desperately needs a more functional interface.

I am starting to warm up to Z3ta, but I think its the one least likely to really need an update.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

Personally, I feel we need to get Rene back to take care of one of his children, named SFZ.

I thought Cakewalk was a Windows only program that slept around with Apple for awhile til the thrill was gone

As much as I would like to see that happen, I was really only looking to see which instruments people would like to see updated.

Cakewalk was a company that made products for both systems, but the Mac products were few (Rapture and Dimension Pro) and would be abandoned immediately after first release (to the point that the installers didn't even work). Cakewalk also had a foolish WINE-wrapped Sonar they tried to foist upon Mac users as a port...

Beatscape and Cyclone had so much potential. I'd love to see a fusion of the two that explores the best of both with some of the missing features added. Also Dropzone fell just shy of being really cool.

hmmm
The whole point of Project 5 was a synth workstation, with included synths...
one of which was the made for P5Ver 2.5, the original Dimension in DXi format.
Then CW realised how good a synth it was, made a VSTi for PC and Mac, added more content and removed it from P5, replacing it with DimensionLE (BTW, that is when I decided not to upgrade Sonar and never spend more $s with CW.. like screw me>> screw you CW)
So in the update it should also include updated synths and ofc a new one just for P5>>>>

You are not well informed. Both Rapture PRO and z3ta+ 2 were released for macOS as well, and also their latest plug-ins (like the CA-2A that was being offered for free) were released for macOS.

Anyway, I never understood why would Cakewalk loose time with macOS in this day and age. macOS is loosing momentum each day, and their strategy of a new OS version each year makes supporting their OS a nightmare. It was a waste of resources

Yeah, I thought so, but didn't really bother to check up on the details when I made my last post. I stopped paying attention at the point where I abandoned Windows, PCs, and Sonar.

Cakewalk probably thought they were going to make lots of extra profit with next to zero effort in maintenance. Ha.

Apple were doing great for a few years. The Mac was growing in usage because the mobile devices were brilliant and the software was well made and human usable. Now they're being Wall Street jackasses again and have abandoned nearly every design ideology that earned them any respect at all. It's all riding on (and burning) the old reputation at this point. Still better than going back to where I started, though. Sigh. Choosing "less bad" technology is like voting for the "lesser evil". So effing sick of this shit.

:tu:

This is exactly what I was thinking when I saw this post ...

Rene was the genius behind so many great soft synths along with the sfz format and without his continued involvement, the instruments are going nowhere...

No auto tune...

Z3TA+2 and Rapture Pro were the only supported synths at the time of the last call for Cakewalk. So if any synth were to be revived, it would probably be one or both of them. The others have been abandoned for a while, with no recent support or development.

I like the idea of a P5 revival, but that wasn't a synth, more of a DAW-like synth workstation. I think Reason would be the closest analogy to that.
