If you never download any of my tracks, try this one. At least you'll know that it's possible to rock without using guitars!

This one shows quite a few of my influences in a unique way. Rush, Yes, and King Crimson are all over this track. And, of course, it has an Asian flavor of some sort.

I realize the hi-hats suck. I got bored and will come back to that later, but I have another song to arrange this weekend and didn't want to spend any more time on this one until I've had a chance to get some distance from it. I wrote this one at least two winters ago and just now got around to arranging and orchestrating it. I was up until 4am last night! I'm glad I waited to finish this one because I can program drums a lot better now than then. You'd laugh if you could hear the demo of this one.

this is exactly as you described except for that the hi-hats suck…cause they don’t.

the sound at ±2:15 is really scary, well that sound is exactly as when my door opens. Also that sound is perfectly aligned to where my door is (relatively from where I am sitting). So every time I hear it I think someone is opening the door and it scares the hell of me since it’s 5:31 in the morning and I am home alone.

I can hear the KCinfluences, which are nice and the Arabian touch is also pretty neat! There are some really nice & cute little bleep sounds in there which I like a lot.

Me likes this track and you’ve succeeded in rocking without guitars quite well.

I think this song is great as-is! The nasty rockin' crunchy bassline really draws me in as soon as it starts, and the overall flow is varied and entertaining throughout.

What synths did you use on this? It totally reminds me of the stuff my friend Rick does almost exclusively in Reason. I'm sure he won't mind a free plug

Sonically, it's a bit too soft for rock (for my tastes). Also, the energy and drive of the bass (sound) and drumkit seems to be at odds with the pad synths.

Good stuff Shane. I would back off the drums just a touch and also that bass synth a db or two. Have you considered some slow autopan on that chainsaw-type synth at 2:15? Look, I can't be picky really, this is a good track that just needs you to flesh it out a little more.

tiptop production as usual although I feel it in a way a bit thinnish. The rich and sparkley pads halfway seem to suck quite much energy though and are very upfront.

I am not that familiar with the band-names or tunes from them, but I can certainly hear the influence. The asian flavour could be nudged up a bit more even I think.

The more I listen to this now though the more it grows on me and all the subtle details come out to me

a bit dream theater-ish at times (not surprisingly if you mention rush as influence). I think the crunchy bass is a bit too thin though and I agree the hi-hat is a tad boring and stiff at times

but I like this very much (which is not surprisingly since I'm a very big dream theater and rush fan )

hi shane. at first listen, I was put off by the bass - it seemed to have too many high frequencies.. but the more I've listened the more I like the whole thing, especially from 2:20.
