Ehem no, and fortunately it never comes up in conversation.

I saw this last night. Do you like the song? It is not bad but the chorus sounds like that 6 Pence None the Whatever... I think that is the bad. The song "There she goes" or something like that. But, it does have an XTC sound to it. I wonder what the rest of the album is like.

Anyway...found that the guitarist I thought looked like Dave Gregory,(XTC),is not Gregory.
Listening to the new cd...can`t say i`m impressed yet.
Had my share of the wishywashy later XTC releases.
This cd may have the same impact on me...yawn.

I`m on a pc here.
I have the .asx file in one server and it directs the path to another server where the .mpeg is stored.
Maybe the mac won`t recognize the .asx file...don`t know.

Sorry...no way to change.

By the way, the first part was a quote from the same movie as in your sig. "... it has to enter you through a different opening if you'll forgive the disgusting imagery".

One of my favorite Woody Allen film quotes that I memorized is this one from Annie Hall:

I saw the TFF spot just by luck on TV last night - the wife and I missed Leno's intro, so we looked at each other a couple of times and asked, "Is that Tears for Fears?" Sure enough, it was. "Call Me Mellow" seems like a logical extension from the "Seeds of Love" album. It was nice to see Curt playing a Hofner Club Bass - I have a Hofner reissue of the '63 Beatle Bass. http://www.tearsforfears.net streams the latest album "Everybody Loves A Happy Ending" - listening to "Closest Thing To Heaven" - yep and there's another lick reminiscent of "Seeds of Love"...well the boys can still craft a good pop tune and leave little tasty bits in the outro.

These show Nick doing some pretty serious drumming. So, you can imagine how great he is for the whole TFF show. I can't wait to see it. I hope they come to town here. Nice gig though. I mean, Nick has played with a few bands including Genesis but at a later stage of their carreer. Better late than never! I used to want to play keys with TFF. I met with their old management once about it. This was even before Nick was playing with them. I met Roland once but he was a bit aloof. Both he and Peter Gabriel are sort of quiet, almost shy in a way. But, can be hard to have a conversation with. I imagine they can be fun and interesting if you catch them in a good moment though. Nick I am sure has. I did meet Curt backstage at the Atlantic Records 40th anniversary show (where Led Zep with Jason Bonham played). He was really nice and we talked about Pink Floyd and Steely Dan. It was before Sowing the Seeds came out and I said to him "Dude, when are you guys putting out another record? Are you?" and he said "Oh yeah, we are and it is a little bit like Pink Floyd and Steely Dan. You'll love it". Of course I did.

I never did hear Mayfield or any of his solo stuff. I know someone who was writing with him for a solo record. But, that's another whole story. I am full of stories like this. I just have to have a catalyst to remember them. Sorry for ranting in your thread though. Back to discussing the record. I should have bought it today before the shops closed so I could listen to it now and see what it is like.

It's the solo album Roland did in 2001.
The latest Spock's Beard album is the one with Nick as lead singer AND drummer. Both albums are worth getting...

Oh yeah. That "solo" record (thought TFF was solo though or did he break up with himself for a brief moment? ). Is this record good? Seems like I have a few records to get. Nick played on Roland's solo record I assume?

By the way, some people used to say I looked like Roland. The long curly hair in the video probably didn't help. Although even before people would say that for some reason. In fact, I told Curt that when I met him and he looked at me and said "Oh, yeah I guess I can see that a little". I remember how excited he was about the STSOL record and when he was gone I bet it was a big disappointment. Good to see them get over it though. I'd like to see Waters and Gilmour do that too.

Want to say that i`ve always respected,and had been a fan of TFF...but also want to express,what now is an ongoing theme of mine towards this new cd,(and some of the "Tomcats..." solo effort),that Orzabal is ripping XTC big time in my oppinion.

I also hear "Klatuu" drum effects,like in"closest thing to heaven".(also used in "seeds of love")
In "who killed tangerine"they also rip klatuu ripping the beatles!hahaha

Does anyone else well familiar w/XTC,say,"oranges and lemons/skylarking"hear all the rips?(no,I don`t work for XTC... )

Just my 2 cents:

Squids is the keyboardplayer on those "LAMB" clips. These also include Nick D'Virgilio on drums and Kevin Gilbert on vocals. Nick and Kevin have been working together until Kevin died (in '96 I believe). Nick spend years finishing "The Shaming of the True" which is Kevins 2nd solo album. It's a great concept album and the story irronically applies to his own life…..... I always found there are much simularities between Kevins work and that of TFF. You'll probably like them a lot.

Nick has performed and/or recorded with Genesis, Tears For Fears, Sheryl Crow, David Bearwald (David & David), and Kevin Gilbert. Kevin and Sheryl used to be a couple and Kevin was a part of the Tuesday Night music club...... the award winning album which brought fame and fortune to SC. It was Kevin who introduced here to the Tuesday gang...


Nick joint Spock's Beard and their debut album was produced by Kevin Gilbert. Since 2002 Nick is also the singer for Spock's Beard. On the record he still plays all the drums; on stage there are 2 drumsets and he sits behind it about 20% of the show.
So… in a way he doing exactly the same thing as Phil did with Genesis.
Nick also has a solo album called NDV. And Nick is the live drummer for TFF since '95.

Another detail:
Ryo Okumoto, the keyboard player for Spock's Beard, has played with Phil Collins, Eric Clapton and mebers of Toto (amoungst others btw but that list is to long…..)

Funny how all the things are connected arn't they….

What I wonder about is how Squids is got connected to these guys and what else he did before and after the "Lamb" show.
