Manual settings vs midi enabled - parameters recalling differently

Hello!

We've been experiencing some strange behaviours in Axiom when used in conjunction with a MIDI controller... the bass presets were noisy while changing patches so we're using some additional programming (using a Morningstar controller).

The sequence is as follows: first it ducks the Axiom input and output parameters to the minimum value (-40) and activates the master bypass, then there's a 200ms delay time, then it loads the next preset (as determined by the Morningstar program change command), then turns Axiom back on and brings the input/output back up to the pre-determined levels (those levels are set in Axiom as the max value").

But what we've noticed is that occasionally, when loading a more CPU intensive preset, the MIDI commands sort of get confused and the input/output values don't recall correctly, or don't come back up at all after being ducked to -40.

On one occasion the preset seemed like it loaded correctly, but then upon using the foot pedal on the pedalboard (which usually just controls certain sound elements within the preset), the input level was changing in conjunction with the foot pedal, which it is not assigned to do. In that instance the foot pedal was even changing the CC number on the input parameter, in the toe position the CC was 13 (which is what it's supposed to be) and in the heel position it was changing to 1.

Shortly after this occurrence, Axiom crashed completely and the computer had to be restarted.

Our best guess is that the preset was not fully loaded when it was still trying to perform MIDI commands, so the MIDI got all wacky.

Is it just that the preset was too big and took too long to load?

Do you have any MIDI related tips or tricks that might help overcome this?

This is definitely not expected. We have been using Axiom with MIDI pretty intensively for years and never experienced that kind of behavior.

I am guessing that you are sending some MIDI CC messages together with the preset change messages (Bank Select messages are actually MIDI CC by the way), and that some parameters are assigned to these MIDI CC as well. This would explain the strange reset to 0 behavior.

To verify this, can you double check the MIDI assignments of the parameters in both the global and preset settings? You may also want to double check the exact sequence of messages sent by the morning start upon preset change.
