Strum Designer, about rhythms and variations

This is what we read on your site:
We’ve exhaustively sampled 48 unique strummed rhythms in two tempos, six keys, twelve chord types, and multiple variations per rhythm.

So, about each rhythm, what does multiple variations mean? Also, is it possible to customize a pattern like shifting in the NI Strummed Acoustic 2 or it is all baked once for all?
