Demo time is coming......

Hi there everyone.
I'm one of those members who tends to hang around Kvr, only adding my two-bob's-worth when I know about the topic. Hence, the low post count.
Anyhoo, the time is nigh to put up or shut up. After a long period of personally fannying around, the band and I have finished recording 6 songs in preparation for a demo CD. We now need some feedback to choose which songs to put on the CD. From what we've read, the most that should be put on one disc is 4 songs. So what dy'all think:
a) about the songs
b) about which would be best for a demo
c) a possible track order
Oh yeah... nearly forgot to tell you that the link to the songs is
http://www.manuelblanco.co.uk/mixes_031104/
TIA.

This is a very clean/tight package of tunes. Production sounds very good in my opinion. All these songs sit well together so it will be difficult to choose 4. I think you want to choose songs that show some diversity yet maintain the band's sound.
I think Awake should be the first song.(although I'm not so sure that first "awake" should be the first thing you hear...not sure why exactly, perhaps it sounds a little out of place..could be wrong
)
-Satellite Soul
-the Creeping (waiting for a hard guitar riff and it happened at 3:08 )
-Head Up (that diversity that I was talking about)
nicely done.
best of luck with it.

Cheers dano, for all the support.
I take it that the order you listed the songs is the order for the CD. Let me know if it isn't.
Will let the rest of the band know. This is the kind of feedback that we needed (and positive to top it off
)
Anyone else have an opinion? Go on......

Yes, I was thinking in that order....but you really know the songs intimately and probably know best. Just my thoughts...I see you are in the UK...my guess is if you brought that sound to Canada, you would do quite well.

Reminds me of The Din Pedals a little, man did I love that group, anyway how can I get your CD?
Demo order:

2. Hollywood

High praise indeed. Thanks for taking the time to post. We are hoping to finalise all the artwork and tracklisting for the demo by the end of next week. Then off to the presses.
www.cmeduplication.co.uk seem to be doing a good deal for 1000 CDs. Then it's time to bombard the music companies and hope to catch a break.
Once we get the pressing done I'll pm you and work out a way of getting a CD to you. Hopefully, the day job is not going to interfere with all this... No, I take that back, I won't let it.
Again, thanks for the feedback.

hello ! very good job and very nice songs
i'd personaly pick, in this order :
1- Awake
2- Head Up
3- Hollywood
4- Up On The Money
The Creeping would also make a nice end of record song, but maybe more with a 6 or 10 titles format
good luck !

Cheers ksn.
Personally, I'd like to put together a cd with 6 songs, but everything we've read so far seems to say 4 songs maximum. Some sources go as far to say that the ideal demo would only have one song, the strongest, in it.
Apparently, when an A&R rep is going through their in-pile of demos, they are more likely to listen to those that have fewer songs as it would take less time to assess them fully. Therefore we thought that we'd put the strongest four on CD, which we could also give to "fans" and friends, and have the rest of the songs on the website!
What's everyone else's take on the maximum number of songs on a demo?
