What is exactly you dont like about the begining

Post

It sounds like great music to me as well, but concur with vurt - the intro needs a little 'something more'? Just as an idea, like sweeping it down from a high pass filter so it's like 'bip-bap-bam-BAM-BOOM'
kinda? Or maybe raise their volume while bringing down a humongous amount of reverb simultaneously so it sounds like the kick is being pushed towards the mic from the back of a huge warehouse? Just 'something'. It sounds a little too 'generic Hip Hop' as it is. And with just a quick neat effect, you can change all that. ;)

But other than that, I like the beat and music ALOT! Keep up the great work! :hihi:

Post

K point taken, the intro dosent really sound good...but what abput just cutting the tremolo strings out of the begining and start the song with kick,kick,kick,snare,kick,snare...or just start the song straight away

Post

No, no! I LIKE the intro! :D It set's up a nice chilly atmosphere for me atleast. Just the way that kick drum comes in - I expect to hear Jay Z saying 'Ahhhhhh yeah, give it up now!' or something? :-o But I think if you 'twist' it in, either with a filter or sometype of effect - you retain the 'Trip Hop' feel, but keep Jay Z from ever coming near it. :hihi:

Post

hmmm....what about backwards reverb and delay

Post

Theres a lot of space in this... and I mean that as a good thing. I like it a lot.
Listening to it, I hear an Arabic voice over the top that would sit really well, someone like Khaled.
Just an idea.
Nice one elv

Thanks HoTRocK, trying to be sparse, as I have always added, added, added and added more part

Is this something similar you are talking about Steve

It is just a couple of seconds, the Icelandic host I use for temp files like this dosent allow big files

Post

That's not bad either. ;) I quickly tapped out this beat to give you an idea of the effects I was talking about. This uses a HPF down slope AND the reverb reduction bringing the drums forward in the kick intro, and then flattens out for the rythem.

I'm no Buddy Rich I know. But hopefully this displays the idea better to you. ;)

Post

yeah im with steve here dont lose the intro completely, its just the start of the drums the initail 4 or 5 beats,to my ears they sounded cold.in otherwords as steve has already said a bit of phasing up as they come in or something just to add life.
but do not lose the intro that in itself had me hooked for the rest of the track 8)

There you go! :D

Sounds like it could work to me. Just gives that impression that 'somethings starting up', than 'rude wake up call'. The 'rudeness' works in Hip Hop alot of times, but your tune is 'evolving and growing' - so try to think of that for the drums as well. ;)
(Am I sounding like a grade 9 art teacher or what? Somebody shoot me! :bang: )

Good luck! 8)

It is much better this way, thanks for the help Steve
