I have laid my music on the internet, but nobody gives me any sort of constructive feedback! It would have been cool if any of you guys took the time to check out my new rock band at this adress, vote and write if ya want to!

First of all it’s not very beneficial to have a first post with a subject line “check this out!” if you want feedback. Moreover not clearly stating the genre is also not very helpful; people would like to know what they are going to download, especially those on dialups.

And last, and certainly most important if you want to get feedback: place direct links to the mp3s or, if that’s impossible explain where people can find them on the site. This is an international forum so the percentage of people that know that that “lytt” means listen and “last” means (down)load isn’t anywhere near 100.

That said, on to the review.

On first listen What Do You Say reminded me a lot of the opening song on “Hugger Mugger” by The September When. The arrangements are very Scandinavian, typically Norsk, I like Norsk. It wouldn’t win an originality price but it’s well executed, catchy, emotive & honest. However I do think that you should stick to one genre rather than trying to incorporate metal into it as well. The bridge that starts at ±3:00 is what I mean. It sounds out of place like the song hops out of it’s genre for 8 seconds and then falls back in.

The production is a bit muddy from time especially the vocals are a bit indistinguishable at times. You could try to make a bit more room by cutting in the frequency spectrum of the guitar. There are some annoying high frequencies in there as well that would better be filtered out.

Billy the bee is less dynamic & driving. It’s also more amateuristic than the other song however the metal influences work much better here. It’s quite a funny tune actually but I like the other significantly better, I’m not really into funny tunes.

Overall, nice Norsk-Pop-Rock, I like!
