So I sat down to make some music since it's been too long since I last made anything. And what do you know, it turns out sounding like a videogame track. Can't say I was very surprised, heh

Anyway, this is just a snippet but please download and tell me what you think. Suggestions on what to remove, add or fix and what you like and don't like would be very appreciated.

Someone suggested to add vocals. I started thinking I could do some odd stuff with text-to-speech and a vocoder. Anyone got any suggestions for good text-to-speech apps, free or cheap? Oh and are there any good free vocoders? Steinberg Vocoder comes to mind but I'm very tempted to try building my own in SE.

Great song so far. Love the synth work on it and the mix makes everything fall into place. I don't really like the ride cymbal sound you used though at around the 1:55 mark. And yes, the song sounded kinda computer game-ish

Listening again...this sounds very well done!

Very well balanced.
Good intro.
Good melody lines.
Nice choice of sounds.

I would recommend some reverb played on the lead instruments that sound dry.If you have reverb in already then it must be just right.

Hi Majken, that is a very nice little tune, but i think it lacks a bit of the ol' ultra low-fidelity.

- Cymbal sound? You mean the Ride-like cymbal that keeps banging on?

annode: Oh there is reverb in there, but maybe I should add some more. I'll give it a go. Thanks!

a.h.: Ah yeah, to be properly videogame'ish it would need to be 8-bit or so. Think of this as modern videogames

- I might try adding some bitcrushed sounds though. But I gotta watch out, it's an effect I use waaaaay to much

Thanks! And sorry, no.. Cause there is no complete track.. yet.. still working on it

Umm I tried to find an old forum post with an old song that I actually finished. Can't find it though, however here's the link to the song:

It's a bit faster, harder and more distorted than this. But who knows, maybe you'll like it all the same.
