I'm testing EXT as a DAW choice, played around with automation on Fabfilter Twin (LFO Freq) and a few others, getting a glitchy, click, very faint. I have yet to choose an audio interface, so using the stock sound card, with standard latency at first, adjusted to 3000, it disappears, assuming it's latency in the stock card?
Forgive me, I come from a strict Mac background, the stock cards seem to be of better quality than the stock PC cards most laptops come with. Just wanted to make sure there isn't a known issue with EXT's automation.

Stock cards usually do not support ASIO.
So I guess you set up XT2 to work with DirectSound.
If so, try with installing ASIO4ALL and set up XT2 to use ASIO.
In most cases this works far better (in my own experience and from what I heard of).
You then may tweek some settings like buffer size and the like,
