jorgen, will this be implemented in the nearer future of energy xt? maby 1.36 or what ever.. ? or have you planed to do it later and concentrate on the realtime stuff first ?

What the heck is plugin delay compensation? I don't notice any delay in any of my plugins, unless ofcourse it's a delay plugin. ;)

:) there are some plugins (convolution reverbs, compressors, phase linear filters,...) that need at first some samples of the signal to process. so these plugs tell the sequenzer, i need 20ms or 1000ms of samples first before i can output anything. the sequenzer (if it can handle PDC) then takes care delaying all other tracks so they all stay in sync to the track with the delaycausing plugin. as some of the best filters (phaselinear plugins) and compressors (it's good for a it to know some samples of a signal, to work smoother) and the convolution reverbs (they put a reverbstamp on a signal and this needs some samples) are introducing a delay, it s really needed in studiowork. ok, energyxt seems not to be made for sequenzer stuff at the first, but it HAS a very good sequenzer, so i would love to use it instead of some other stuff. a workaround would be to manually delay the other tracks, but i still need to know, how many samples the plugin needs.

OH! I knew what this was i just didn't know it was called pdc. I have been using the sonitus compressor and gate in sonar 4 and it has a paramater called lookahead, which of course would require pdc. Allthough im not sure if sonar supports pdc, it does as far as the sonitus fx are concerned.

Yes, it does.

I wish eXT could support PDC too, so i can sequence mainly with it. I love the eXT sequencer workflow but plug-ins delay kill it :(

I will soon add optional "delay" on eack track, this will be the start of pdc.

cheers

Doesn't this or this help? Just as easy as manually setting the delay compensation for each track...

Post

my advice: don't use plugs that introduce delay, unless you want to spend more time calculating delays than making music .... things get complicated when your arrangements grows

i have actually no idea how this would help... ?
Latency Delay is an auxiliary latency compensation plug-in which allows you to compensate latency introduced by modular real-time VST plug-ins and instruments which introduce latency but do not try to report it to the host.
Latency Delay introduces 10000 samples latency itself and delays the audio signal
by [10000 minus specified sample value] samples. Please note that host audio application should support latency compensation. This plug-in is only a helper and should be used together with other plug-ins.

Some plug-ins introduce latency when playingback. In order to keep things in sync you have to delay every other track. Some plug ins, like Voxengo's delay can help you on this.
