FREE-FOR-ALL
--------- the technical rules for this month are as follows ... 1 - your track MUST be - (a) encoded in .mp3 or .ogg format at 128kbps or lower (b) no longer than 2 minutes running time (c) named in the format yearmonth-artistname-tracktitle (ie - 0505-artistname---tracktitle.mp3) with AT LEAST the artist and title fields of the ID tag completed (untagged entries will be disqualified) (d) composed using at least some software plugin instruments or effects (e) entered into the contest by posting a DIRECT link in this RULES & SUBMISIONS thread (use the GOSSIP thread for everything else) (f) submitted before the deadline (6pm GMT on tuesday 24th may) 2 - your track SHOULD be - (a) composed specifically for this contest (b) original material / remix / or hybrid in any style 3 - only one entry per person - no resubmissions without permission from the moderator 4 - any tracks not adhering to these rules will be strictly disqualified 5 - voting (members must have at least 20 posts to vote ... although contest entrants are exempt from this ruling) will run from the submission deadline until 6pm GMT on tuesday 31st may - anyone voting for themselves will find ALL their votes disqualified - any entrants not voting will also be disqualified 6 - prizes this month so far ... (a) for this month AND EVERY MONTH THROUGHOUT 2005 we have a copy of PHANTOM to give away courtesy of the guys over at ... (b) winners choice of either cameleon5000 or supercamelphat from ben at ... (c) a plugin of the winners choice courtesy of our own markleford and liqih at ... ... as ever im working on getting some more loot for you all ... so ... I don't like Free For All. It's ... too free. I want these contest to be a challenge. To do something within limits. To have RULES!
Thus: Rules It's not gonna win. Who cares. It's a sort of anti song (pretentious sod - who, me? - yeah you!). Lyrics (as far as I can hear them - and I can solo the track - they're improvised): It's free It's free for all What does eh that mean? Free Free Free from what? Free for who? Free for everyone! This song is about two people. Me and young me. One of me is sitting at home after dark making silly songs and posting them on the internet. Young me can be heard a couple of times during this song.
Can you hear him laughing at the silly old bastard who's looking out a window at the sunset while trying desperately not to make another song with chord changes in it? The drums were played by a real live drummer (me), and the guitars were done by a real live guitarist (my buddy). He also did the bass, keys and effects. I've Got To Be Me! Enjoy! |
