well...I have been trying ever since I heard about the CM session to try to find this particular issue of Computer magizine in the states. ( CM86) After many weeks of going back and forth at Barnes and Noble, , I FINALLY found it today. Installed it without a hitch ( although i found the registration a little bit annoying, but no trobles..going back and forth with a REAL floppy disc between my DAW and Internet computer)

I have to say that Scott did a fantastic job with the sample content. MY KIND OF SOUNDS!The Kyma cloud and Red sweep is to die for. The acoustic samples are clear and sprarkly. The drums are Killer!

To even make these sounds really come out, I used a delay, or my fav effect plugin ATM: Camel Space..really brings out the sounds on CM Session.

Thanks Scott for a wonderfull Free instrument..and a quality one at that!! From One sound designer to another!

Yes, Scot Solida's works were the reason I subscribed to Computermusic after trying for months to get the mag here (you get it now but it's 18,40 Euro in Germany). I just don't have Camel Space, my only disadvantage...

I'd like to try it but CM is just waaaay too hard to find in Canada. Not to mention so bloody expensive... They really need to fix their international distribution.

Tim, could you give an idea of the types of samples? So far you've mentioned Drums, and a Synth/ Pads? I ask because I tend to find CM difficult to get where I live, and it'd be helpful to have a headsup [ not to mention appreciated

].

I sometimes wish the mags would put up a short listing of their cd content...but that'd be hoping.

well..I am still going thru them..but its samples from his home modular, a kyma system, real guitars,Vintage keyboards and more. Quite a wide variety of sounds..and they are GOOD sounds too. A definite must get..worth the price of the mag, and I know it was pretty high here in the states:$16.00. But theres a ton of other stuff on the DVD as well ( yes..its a DVD) like nice ambient samples..going thru them using ProSounds PS1 to play them.

I know that UKers are now enjoying the next issue, but here in the states..it takes a long time to get'em..then ya gotta be quick to nab'em before they sell out ( and they do)

It seems this particular sample addict will be in need of buying this issue..

Well I'm somewhat south of the equator [a little place called Australia], and most of the local newsagents don't seem to get CM or if they do it's gone so quickly I'd never know they had it. I already preorder PC Format [UK Ed, one of the best PC mags out of the UK I'd say] for similar reasons.

In the U.S.A., I picked it up at Tower Records. I have not installed it yet, but I am looking forward to it.

After your email awhile back I went looking for it. CM that is but the only place I've gotten it before was a news stand that closed down so my shopping trip was for naught. Like Vurt I hope the vaca was a great success. Nothing like a little RnR to ease the day to day stuff.
