enjoy your trip, makes me a little nostalgic for europe where it's (sometimes) possible to just pop over the border somewhere for the weekend.
the samples and treatments suggest streets, transportation and bustling preparaations, but
what's funny about this is that it sounds like you're just setting off but not actually managing to get anywhere, like the engine won't start or something
, somehow i can imagine you also having trouble pulling yourself away from the computer. are you at all familiar with david thomas, who was/is in pere ubu?, he's a master of that kind of imagery, the odd soundbites/talking to oneself style vocal snippets.

Excellent as always Thomas. At first I wasn't sure if it was just going to sound too much like some of your recent work, but then it really hits its stride without you even noticing.

Going . . . going . . . going . . . going . . . I agree with knockman, this song goes but it doesn't get there. Not necessarily a bad thing.
Everytime I hear any music I'm always imagining musical references . . . I hear a little Throbbing Gristle in here (oh, please say it isn't so!). It's not as disturbing as they could be but . . . anyway, it's probably just my mind doing what it does on a Friday afternoon.

Thank you! I just finished this before I bolted out the door (wonderful weekend btw, blue sky, eight year anniversary...). I didn't really listen to the track (of course I listened, but I didn't step back and "looked" at it from a distance). I can hear the same thing. It's not really going anywere, which is perfect, because a weekend trip, however nice, is not really going anywere either. So the track captured my mood perfectly, even though a lot af random composition went in to it. The traffic is actual traffic (a mike out the open window - I live on a heavily trafficked road).
I don't know Throbbing Gristle. I know of Pere Ubu, but not in details.
