Hello, i have just discovered sampletank and am currently "Trying" to use it in Fl Studio. However I am having trouble getting it to play it's sounds. I have read some things that suggest using Midi out but am not sure wether this applies to my situation.
Can Anyone please help me this is very fustrating :-o . I know that sampletank has some really great sounds because of it's demos and right now i feel that I'm missing out. I will be very greatful for any suggestions regarding my unfortunate situation thank-you. :help:

Did you read the manual?

Is it as hard to read as that colored text?

The installer places a manual on your hard drive, and right on the second or third page it tells you how to load and play an instrument.

Did you try double-clicking on an instrument in the browser?

You dont need midi out, by the way.

ya i read the manual and everything, I double click on the intruments but when i attemt to use the piano roll no sound comes out. I don't understand. Even when i use the mini keyboard built into sample tank no sounds come out.

On the lower right corner of the gui is a button that says "Zone" click the "On" button underneath it and you'll see what keys the samples/instruments are mapped to. Some of them are not mapped all the way across the keyboard.

does the sampltank instrument midi channel no. match the midi channel no. of the midi track you are using to control it?
The above "words" are the ramblings of a depraved megalomaniac.Any similarity to normal communication is a hallucination on the part of the reader.Replying to this post will result in your family and posessions becoming the property of funkynuts.

Thank-You i can now see that I am making progress. It has shown me what keys the samples are mapped to but i'm still unable to hear anything.
I have also received a private message hopefully this can help you understand my problem:

It's relatively easy to use multi timbral vsti's in FL, but it's not obvious how to do it
This is assuming you have ST configured correctly, ie, it's pointed to the folder where the ST sounds are installed (under 'preferences' on the right hand side of ST GUI)

1/ Load ST
2/ Set the port (top right hand corner) to a number, ie, 0
3/ Load a FL midi out generator and set that to the same port number as ST but set the midi channel to 2
4/ Load as many FL midi out's as you need, just remember to set the port to the same number and increase the midi out channel by 1 each time.
5/ Back in ST, load as many sounds as you need, obviously on different midi channels.

You may need to tick 'Allow program editing' in the FL/ST wrapper > top left hand corner in the drop down menu.

That's basically it, this setup works with all multi timbral vsti's, and while it might seem a bit complicated at first, once you grasp how it's done you'll wonder why you struggled (we've all been in your position with this ? )

As ST has multiple outputs, you can also send each sound to a seperate FX channel in FL, should you want to use other vst fx, but this is a different setup altogether. Ask if you want to know how, again, it's not that difficult to do :)

The problem I am also having is allowing program edit it doesn't show in the drop-menu. i know this because i have seen an example of what it would look like on this site.

if "allowing program editing" is the reason why it isn't working i'm glad to see I'm making progress but too bad it still doesn't work . Still no sound is coming out . Im not sure if it's because im using fl studio 4.5 instead of 5.

OMG OMG i ran over you and Ian B's advice and I heard some notes from my instruments I'm gonna keep playing around with it. Thank-You soooo much for your help but if I need anything I'll be back. :D

True, you did, in reply to a PM asking me if I could help. A PM is intended to be just that, 'private' ie, for you alone and not for posting on the forum.
I try to help when I can, and there's no harm done here.....unless of course you're using a FL crack, in which case you're posting of my PM makes me look a bit of a tw#t.
