[EDIT]
Updated! I have redone the drums entirely and also changed/improved the sound of the bass... +some general fiddling with the mix. Don't forget to check out Get Up (Spread the Love) as well! ;)
[/EDIT]

Hey there,
Was at home at a friends house yesterday when they were doing vocals for their demo and got inspired to do something myself, taking the words I'd scribbled down (well, written into my mobile) earlier at the cafe (which are the first part of the chorus) I sat down and made this.

It's not 100% complete (eg. vocals are not 100% tight in all places) but won't go through anything major, I'm quite satisfied with how it turned out. Especially considering I did everything from scratch including vocals in about 3-4 hours yesterday.

Comments on both the song and the mix are welcome!

It's available here: http://www.musicv2.com/artist/programentalist top of the page, "Water to Wine". Download (3.8mb) or stream, no registration required.

Thanks :)

Edit: Just posted another song here in the Café, it's right here [http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=96168] in case the threads get separated ;)

this is cool, kind of loungey madness, i like the chrous a lot with the clav and the simple bass line. drums could perhaps take a bit more variation tho.

Cheers! Loungey madness, that's the offical genre now :hihi:

Yeah I guess the drums could use some variation except from the occassional mini-fill, I've thought about loosening them up a bit as well, adding a bit of swing (though not too much, they're supposed to be fairly solid).

Hi

Just listened to Get Up, and really enjoyed it! :)

Do you mind telling me what plug you used for the drums?

Thanks

Cheers everyone! :)

Still only one reply on my latest and most lovely tune though http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=96168 ;)

AlanB: The drums are samples from RuffRyder, run through Saturated Driver from TBT and Blockfish from Digital Fishphones.

oh man! that is a groovin' little song you've got there. very catchy. your voice is so laid back, but funky at the same time. lyrics were kind of funny but serious at the same time.

the drums were a little monotonous, but being a first draft of the song, i'm guessing you just wanted to get the basic beat down.

that springy little synth sound was very cool and was perfect the feel of the song. well done. i always say the best ideas come at a moments notice!

Cheers mate! Yeah I think I will have to redo the drums, especially after doing such a good job (imo ;)) on "Get Up (Spread the Love)".

The springy sound is an effected TickyClav btw...

Second cheeky *bump* for me today... I've redone the drums entirely on this track, and also changed the bass-setup.
