hallo
did anybody out there controlled any VSTi using the Korg MS-20 legacy controller?
In particular, how is the patch area recognized via MIDI?

Kriminal, could you explain better? Thanks.
(come on guys, let's stop the dongle affair. there's always someone ready to believe it, I know, but as Morrissey sang, that joke isn't funny anymore...).

It works like a normal controller, you can play the keys and assign all the knobs to parameters of your VSTi. The cable wont do anything to a VSTi tho, the are for the MS20 only.

Is that really a rumour going around? Okay, let's get rid if it once and for all. Ready? Here goes:xist wrote:Kriminal, could you explain better? Thanks.

Yes you CAN control other VSTi's with the MS-20 controller.
I don't remember from the manual, but the easiest way is surely to set the knob/slider on the VSTi (for instance the CS-80V which does this nicely) to MIDI learn and just dial a knob on the MS-20.
Heck as I reported over at cubase.net, even The Grand responds to MIDI control messages! My almost 2 years old daughter was toying with my MS-20 controller which output was to The Grand, and tweaking the filter knob really distorted the sound.
Second, what Kriminal probably meant was that the patch chords on the MS-20 won't work with controlling any other VSTi.
The Polysix for sure is set up for the MS-20, I also think both the Wavestation and Legacy Cell is too, but I haven't read the manual in a while so I don't remember; I haven't used the MS-20 for those two modules, I prefer my full-sized MIDI keyboards for those.

Thanks Kriminal, I was confused by the word "patching" (didn't think about the cables!).
Thanks to Z for your further comments.
