Consider it infotainment.

Either way the station remains non-commercial no ads, but If the filenames and mp3 tags remain add free and state that they are demos, then a link back to your web page would be added to the setlists.

If your station is ad free and commercial free – how are you actually going to pay for anything, bandwidth, diskspace n time – in order to keep up with demand etc?

spe3d, i think that's something that's been covered before in the past threads on this topic, and it's something that clearly has been thought about. from what was said before, don't worry about it. he seems confident that it's not something you need to worry yourself over.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

Dunno yet.
I'm starting with the a minimum spec, minimum investment. I'm convinced that as this grows various forums, developers, labels, A and R people etc will see this as a benefit to them without the need for ads.

There is the possibility of compilation albums. Fundraisers.

The setlist page acts as a database of links that actually means something. These are the tunes demos tutorials, shows etc the keep getting played, with links back to the originator.

It's a level playing field where the commercial orientated demos and tutorials could sit side by side with the other participants work. If the stuff is overcommercial ie I guy repeating "go to my site for more info" then his stuff just won't get more than one play.
I will play every thing at least once!!!!!!!

PS I have no problems with jingles to advertise the forums. On this one particular note. I will make an exception since EMC radio is so dependant on them.

I've put up permanent links on the front page of my site to illustrate this.

I am not stating that I have no ideas I hope I made that clear. I'm simply stating that I don't know which way things will go.

Right what I can say and this may seem like a tangent but the hit rate on my site went from 250 a month to over 4 thousand and growing.

That is pretty much the only accurate statistic I have at the moment.

I know I have a max capacity of 20 listeners but rarely top ten.

I know I can personally afford up to 40 listeners max at any one time, out of my own pocket.

I know I will continue to pay all expenses for the next six months by myself if necessary. Then I will reevaluate.

I think I can increase my upload rate to accomadate two streams one at 32 or 64k and one at 128k.

I have nearly 3 gig of contributers music and it grows by
an average of ten tunes per day.

As these statistics become more concrete and comprehensive I am sure the tiny amount of investment required (If I can do so much already by myself) will be forthcoming.

Will keep you all posted....
