Analogflux Tapebus
Analogflux is a suite of Windows VST effect plug-ins designed to deliver the sounds of the analog days. In the core of these processors Voxengo has extensively used convolution processing to match the response of the original analog gear. This suite consists of TapeBus, Delay, Impulse, Insert and Chorus plug-ins.

TapeBus recreates characteristic elements of the reel-to-reel tape sound. This includes saturation, modulation noise and smearing effects which are known for the 'analog' feel they bring to any audio recording. This plug-in also applies a selected impulse response taken from the existing tape machine.

I like this plugin. It did it's part of shaping the sound of my latest CD. Tapebus is not the obvious thing everybody needs. But it's one of those small specialties if applied correctly it can't be exchanged with anything else I own or know.
I like the sound of this plugin a lot. This plugin is not really self explanatory. In fact it's not easy to operate. An easy mode would be agood thing for the new user. But the supplied presets do show some range of the things that are possible with it so that the learning curve isn't too high.
The GUI is OK.
The documentation is sufficient.
Voxengos customer support is really good, a very competent developer willing to help his customers.
Value for the money: Top! Concidering that there are several other really cool sounding plugins in the AnalogFlux bundle the price is more than fair.
Well, there are barely any plugins that do this "tape" job or acually claim to do so. I own Steinbergs Magneto and was never really happy with it. So it's no surprise that this one here is far better. But even set aside that all other "tape" plugins I tried are not nearly as good sounding to my ears as AnalogFlux Tapebus it gives me some good vintage I-want-it-that-way feeling (trademark bla) so that I used it on lots of single instrument tracks and most mastering inserts for my latest CD.
Talking about apples and oranges: I own and like VintageWarmer and these two plugins are very different and both have their side by side use in my setup. ;-)

Easily the best sounding, and possibly most overlooked tape simulation I've tried. Sounds very nice when added to my drums bus that's too slick or clean sounding or just need a little punch. Takes a while to figure out exactly what some of the knobs do, but its hard to get a bad sound out of this thing unless you crank it up to brutal distortion levels. Besides, the documentation is thorough and the developer is always ready to answer your questions. The interface looks like a nice classy vintage device. Feature wise there are many interesting things you can do to shape your sound. I didn't find all the presets to be epsecially useful. Some didn't achive what they described. However most could achive the sound the preset described with minimal tweaking. However, as with any plug, it's probably best to figure out appropriate settings on your own. Since this plug is included with the Analogue Flux Suite that includes a retro delay, chorus, a channel insert, and a convolution processor , it is an excellent value at only $79.95.
