DML stands for digital musician link. It is a VST 2.0 based audio effect plug-in which is capable of sending audio and MIDI data to a second DML and receiving data via the Internet. Both audio and MIDI data are in perfect sync to the sequencer when they arrive at your workstation. The technology behind this process is called time-stamping. Every sample from your partner which arrives at your workstation has been time-stamped by the DML. Therefore the sequencer “knows” the exact position of the incoming data in your arrangement.
The DML plug-in is closely linked to the digitalmusician.net (DMN), which is a web based community of artists and studios who use the DML to record, produce or simply for fun.

DMM, as does the DML, creates a direct audio/video and chat connection between two sequencers such as Logic and Pro Tools. In contrast to the DML, the DMM is specially designed to work on the master channel insert.
