Jeroen Breebaart has released Ferox, a free VST effect plug-in for Windows that accurately reproduces the saturation and hysteresis effects that result from analog, magnetic tape recording.

Features:

  • Separate controls for saturation, hysteresis and noise effects.
  • Variable feedback and tape speeds are provided to simulate vintage tape echos.
  • Full 32-bit internal processing, sampling rates up to 96 kHz.
