New Sonic Arts has announced that a Mac OS X Audio Unit version of Granite, its "Granular Texture Generator" instrument plug-in, is now available.

Granite is a granular synthesizer particularly capable at generating evolving, organic textures, atmospheres and soundscapes. However, Granite offers an vast range of transformation possibilities, and is can generate a wide range of sounds including organic basses and highly processed loops.

Featuring a compact and intuitive interface, and an engaging workflow including innovative movement recorders and "cycle" modulators, Granite can operate as a free-running sound generator, or as a playable MIDI instrument. Most parameters can be controlled via MIDI CC and host automation.

Granite costs $80 and is now available for Windows 32- and 64-bit VST and 32-bit Mac OS X Intel AU (OSX 10.5 or above).
