rncbc.org has announced the End-of-Year'23 release of Qtractor version 0.9.38, and Vee One Suite version 0.9.33 of old-school software instruments, for GNU/Linux.
Qtractor is an audio/MIDI multi-track sequencer application written in C++ with the Qt framework. Target platform is Linux, where the Jack Audio Connection Kit (JACK) for audio and the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) for MIDI are the main infrastructures to evolve as a fairly-featured Linux desktop audio workstation GUI, specially dedicated to the personal home-studio.
Changes for this release are:
- Track Properties (dialog): auto-background color option added.
- Mitigate undifferentiated disablement of up/down arrow buttons, on tempo and time-signature entry spin-boxes.
- MIDI clip editors (aka. piano-roll) are now raised and centered to current mouse pointer position in main timeline (tracks-view).
- Remember last Marker color setting in Tempo Map/Markers dialog.
- A colored ribbon is now featured on tracks-list Bus column and mixer-strip headers; ribbon colors are designated for Audio and MIDI tracks or buses, given by the respective '10dB' and 'Over' meter colors.
- Buses'In'/'Out' suffixes are back on mixer-strip header tool-tips.

The Vee One Suite is comprised of four separate, autonomous software instruments, which are:
- Synthv1 - a polyphonic subtractive synthesizer.
- Samplv1 - a polyphonic sampler synthesizer.
- Drumkv1 - a drum-kit sampler synthesizer.
- Padthv1 - a polyphonic additive synthesizer.
All delivered still in dual form:
- A pure stand-alone JACK client with JACK-session, NSM (Non/New Session Management) and both JACK MIDI and ALSA MIDI input support;
- A LV2 instrument plugin.
