Dune looks like a regular synth on the first sight, however the synth is so powerful and special. The main difference is the unison mode that you can actually fully control with modulation. This synth has incredible stereo spread possibilities.
You can in the successor, DUNE 2. Moreover automating should work fine in DUNE 1 as well, simply by choosing a MIDI CC like the Modwheel or the Expression pedal as a modulation source then linking it to the desired target parameter. The targets can be sound parameters, but also other slots in the modulation matrix.
