NyquistEq is a paragraphic equalizer that does not suffer from the treble warping that most digital equalizers do. Also it never clicks, and it handles deep bass well.

The reason it's called NyquistEq is because it's designed to be a filter that sounds good all the way up to the Nyquist frequency (if sampling rate is 44.1 kHz then nyquist is at 22.05 kHz).

Wow, this has been a very slow burner for me. I have had it for many years, used it only occasionally, but always preferred the "proper" EQs with decibels for gain and reduction and Frequencies to know where to cut or boost.

For some reason it popped into my head a few days ago when to some tweaking to a finished track on a problem sound which just never sounded "right". When I played it back later that night. OMG, the sound of the channels I had it on sounded so much more defined and clear. All the problem resonances were gone, I was gobsmacked. I have used it on several more tunes with the same results.

It has dawned on me why it works so well................ because when we are cutting or boosting frequencies, we tend to rely on our thinking mind as to which band of the sound needs fixing, and we cut by a fixed amount and often wary of going over ... in dbs... what we think is right. The genius of doing it "blind" like this plug-in, is that we work with our ears not our eyes and logic. I have no idea how much I am cutting or boosting or what precise frequency it is, I just know by the sound when it is right.

Now don't get me wrong, this is not a be all and end all EQ, but from now on it will always find a place in my music as maybe the final stage to get a sound perfect in the mix after other EQs etc.

Thank you very much indeed Smart Electronix for this amazing free plug in .

I really love this free EQ, I use it all the time for all my tracks. The sound is excellent and unlike other free EQs, NyquistEQ has no delay. It's very simple to use, and the management is quite comfortable. Their consumption of resources is minimal, as used in a computer model '98 (AMD K6-II 350MHz with 64MB RAM) in a number of channels without any problems. For several years I had the opportunity to test it in many different hosts and always worked great.
Ok.. it is very simple, but I think that his power is in that concept: It is a graphic parametric equalizer with five bands that can be turned off.
NyquistEQ have some secrets (as I discovered by chance): to avoid the compensation that is turned on by default in all bands you need to access the list of parameters of this VST from your host, you also could change the master gain and the type of filtering; I think that they should add the possibility of modifying these parameters from the graphical interface.
It would be interesting to see a version with ten bands and having some sort of spectrogram in the background :)
