Is it not in the factory bank called Greek master ?quantum7 wrote:This guy on Youtube made one with Omnisphere and it sounds pretty good to my ears. I e-mailed him, but unfortunately never heard back yet.

Should be possible with every good virtual analogue synth.
Once I recreated it with FM8.
CS80 replicants like ME80 also can do it.
Much more difficult is the harmonica-like sound in Blade-Runner-Blues.

Part of the sound is manual modulation. You wont nail it witout doing that. Vangelis used that a lot on most sounds.

True. Use pedal and/or aftertouch.

I never use that synth, but I just checked the ME80's factory presets, there is a blade runner preset which sounds very similar to the video posted indeed. In case you care for the parameter setting in order to more or less copy them on other synths, here is a screen shot:

:O Would be nice to hear what you did to get that sound. How many layers did you use?muLperi wrote:My try at it (with LuSH-101)

Probably the best I've heard it done was on a Jupiter 8. While any analog or VA can get the basic sound, I've found that it takes a really great sounding synth to nail that visceral quality we're all attracted to.Chris-S wrote:Indeed, it's basically a very simple sound. Just 2 slightly detuned saws, some filter and vibrato and a good reverb.

Although not designed to be a copy of that exact sound, there are definitely some similar ones in the LushLife collection inspired by Mr. V.

I decided to have fun with it myself (again).
I started out with Synthmaster, both the basic saw and the CS80 saw that's included. It worked out, so I tried the same trick with Retrologue and Arturia Mini Moog. When that worked out too, I tried Cubase's Prologue just for fun. And that one also could be tweaked to Vangelis heaven. So now I have a ton of Blade Runner intro sounds.

The cs- use "state-variable" filters, don't they? So you want 12db with minimal saturation, not a 24db "moog filter" or that sort of thing.
You should never get it with the minimoog, the filter is too steep and the saturation is outrageous on that thing. Even the VCA distorts like hell.
