Going to try Oril River and Sanford Reverb, I really like Epicweb and Toneboosters reverb. Ambience recently went free but havent tried it yet but I lately got my hand on Blackhole, and OMG what great reverb it is. I want D16 groups Toraverb too, used a lot before. Good description, I didn't really like TAL; felt so flat somehow.

If you need a good reverb, get Epicweb . Its great.

1) Oril River
2) Sanford reverb
3) Epicverb and Voxengo OldSkoolverb
4) Tonebooster reverb v3 (not free)
5) TAL reverb II
6) Freeverb3
7) Cockos Reaverbate
8 ) Ambience

8 ) used to be a favorite among the free reverbs. It can still be used with good effect if you are careful with the knobs, but tbh, there are better alternatives out there. Lots of presets, most of them are unusable.
7) is a tie with 6) and the same comment applies here. Not bad per se, but definitely the others are better. 6) has a terrible interface in my opinion.

Starting from 5), I can recommend these reverbs without much reservation, they all do a good job. Of the 5, TAL is the simplest, it's a plate reverb and you can get decent results quickly with it. Still 1) and 2) and 3) sound better in most if not all situations.

1) is the most recent free reverb in this selection, it's a room reverb and it's the best sounding, most transparent of them all. It's on par with some of the best reverbs. If you need only one, get this one.

2) is also a room reverb. It has one of the most natural sounding algorithm of them all, and was my go to reverb before Oril River came out. When used well, I would be hard pressed to distinguish it from a natural reverberation. I haven't tried commercial reverbs, but someone on the KVR reviews compared it to Softube TSAR-1 and found it to be on par. It's not simple to use, as it is very configurable, but suffice to say it sounds quite transparent and gives a sense of space that the other plugins fail to give. I simply use the presets, they are good enough. For the tweaker, it's possible to adjust separately the 1st, 2nd and 3rd early reflections left and right.

3) OldSkoolVerb is a great all around reverb. I think it's a tiny bit more transparent than 2) and I could see myself using it just about anywhere. But it has a less beautiful tail and sound overall.
At first, I found EpicVerb terrible, until I understood that to use it correctly, one has to mix it with the dry signal: EpicVerb's is the reverb effect only, while all the other reverbs mix in a majority of dry sound by default in their presets. *Now* it sounds good ! I would still put it just below Sanford and on par with Voxengo.

4) is not free, but it comes in the very affordable and very good Toneboosters bundle. It's a plate reverb similar to TAL reverb 2, but with more controls, and a slightly more forward and maybe better sounding.

I've found that a parallel combination of 1) and 2) gives me a nice blend that I'm sure can compare favorably with many commercial packages out there. Get both of them and they may very well be the only reverbs you ever need.
Your comparisom got replaces by not a bad looking woman giving a cheerful rendition of be happy or is that u still.

It's not 64-bit.

Given that Booty joined the TDR team, have any of you deeply tested the saturation in the SlickEQ? Is at the FerricTDS level? What's your opinion on IVGI?

Why not test it yourself? There is a paid and a free version. I wouldnt say it is at FerricTDS level though. Its subtle.

Hi everyone, first time I see this thread! (Thanks, Peter!)

I hope, you don't mind if I chime right in like that, but...

In the reverb list, I don't see Abtract Chamber listed?! I only recently found it and it's phenomenal in my opinion, really. It also appears less hungry than the rest of the pack, especially Oril River, which is VERY processing hungry indeed. I did love the sound of it, but it just isn't efficient as "duty" reverb, so to say. Same goes for Ambience, which I do like for it's level of control and pleasant gui, besides a solid sound.
But, as with most novelties (for oneself), it takes some time to really let things settle. Currently I love Abstract Chamber, but time will tell how it stacks up to the rest...
Voxengo's Oldskool Verb is fun, but it's almost more an effect than a reverb. I've done some wicked stuff with it that was good fun, for sure! But I almost wouldn't list it as a reverb, hahahahaha... sorry.
