Greetings.javascript:emoticon(' OK, I installed Sonic Birth. I have a dual quad mac pro and am using Logic. The first thing I noticed is that every single one of my installed AU plugin components are now identified as a Pluggo component!!! I tried the AU new AU plugins identified under Sonic Birth. One crashes outright every time you select a new preset. The dsigner one just fails au validation. The whole aura of this thing is pure flakiness. Then out of nowhere one of my plugins (Crystal) that I have used for ages won't open. Is this a coincidence? This thing is scaring the **** out of me. I will never download a freebee like this agin. But, does anyone have a clue about this? Thanks in advance. mafmusic@comcast.net |

i should add in case it is relevant that I have an Imac purchased brand new in September with the latest OS and latest version of GB.... if anyone can help this poor soul, i would be grateful. i am new to macs, and kind of dumb with computers. realistically, i am the sort of individual who had no business downloading this program in the first place, but i was curious... and now i don't know how to fix my problem.... any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you!!! ---- Why'd you slice off my hand? |

I cannot speak to garageband or soundstation.
I was using Logic. All I did was to get a new copy of crystal and reinstall it. It worked perfectly after that. But I have come to believe that downloading free stuff is not always wise. You made a smart move with the mac. I use a PC for work and there is no comparison. The mac experience is far superior in every way. Good luck. mafmusic @comcast.net |

Just thought I'd chime in that while Sonic Birth is indeed free at this time, it was originally $150, which is what I paid for it. I've found it to be worth many times that amount.
Anytime you install new software from any vendor, there are potential conflicts. Haven't you ever downloaded something like Windows Media Player or one of the Real players and found that all of your MP3s now want to open in those instead of iTunes (or whatever?) It's not that uncommon to have some little glitches. Keep in mind that the installed base for something like Sonic Birth is probably very small, so there are many possible configurations that have never been tested. |
