hey guys. I was thinking of releasing this song.

but before i do, i would like to know if the kick is too boomy, or if the snare is too bright. i've been told that it is by a few, and i've been told that it sounds ok by others. I don't want it to deafen people in the clubs - if it ever does get played in the clubs - if these problems are prevelant.

Any opinion would be greatly appreciated!!

Just had a little listen on my laptop. Can't really comment on the kick (laptop speakers), but the snare didn't really sound too bright to me. I don't really trust these speakers though, so i just played a couple of electro house tracks that are on my desktop, and yours sounds a lot brighter overall. A lot less body in the mids. The snare didn't sound any brighter than the hi-hats though. Can maybe give a better comment in an hour or two, when i'm at my monitors, if no-one else steps up to help.

Sounds really good on ath700 headphones. Kick not boomy and snare not too bright at all.

The only thing I'd suggest is to slightly variate the way the claps flam. Just need 2 or 3 different ones and your set

It sounds really good, except around 1:30-2:30 it does sounds like the kick is ducking the rest of the song bit too much. The stereo arp seems like it needs to be lower in the mix, and the sound that I interpret as the lead (fuzzy, portmanteau sound) isn't loud enough.

Other than that is sounds good, I'll show it to a friend of mine who DJs music like this and see what she thinks.

xybre, thanks for listening and for the advice. You think the distorted flute nneds to be turned up. it was actually lower than that, and i brought it up, thinking it was too loud now. but thanks for setting me straight ; ]

Al321 - you mentioned there being less body in the mids than on other tracks. WHat would you reccomend i do to fill it out a little more?

After i get done tweaking this, i'm going to send it off to be mastered.

It wouldn't let me download this for some reason, so i just listened to the stream with my headphones.
Forget what i said about the mids. I can hear it a lot better through headphones, and it sounds nice to me. I can see why you were a little worried about the clap. It seems to hit hard around the 7k-10k area, or somewhere around there. Personaly, i would probably give it a little dip, a decibel or so, just to be on the safe side, and give it a little boost around 2k and 15k to compensate, but i'm probably just saying that on personal taste. I reckon the mastering guy could fix that, if he thought it was an issue. The little swoosh before the clap hits, would probably take much of the sting out of it anyway, even if it was a bit upfront, so i wouldn't lose too much sleep over it.

thank you AL321. I've been told that the mixing and mastering on the track could be better. I'm all for constructive ctirisism, but i had to disagree with the person's comment.

It does need mastering though, and other than the snare, i think that the mixing is pretty good. Anywho, thanks guys, for listening and for your advice!!

Yeah I need to check this out on my AKG-701s to be sure, I'd be ashamed if there was something wrong with the mid-side processing of these cheaper headphones which could be causing the lead to be quiet and the arp to be loud.

You should definatly check the lower midrange of the kick, again.

And the snare ain't too bright.

One thing you might want to consider is getting the 'plucked part' to 'move' through the use of a subtle LFO, or chorus, or something.

I can understand the longish 'intro,' and when it does actually 'start,' it sounds great. It's just that, after awhile the plucking begins to get old. If the plucking part were morphing in tonality, it might 'fix' that.
