+/-24dB

Maybe that sounds like too much but sometimes, when working with vocals, high boosts are needed.

Thanks.

That should do it. What I wish to get is an automatic output compensation for this gain knob. Then the trim knob would still be a trim knob.

Makes perfect sense :)

This tool doesn't only "tapify" my mix, it also does pleasant things to the dynamics of the bottom end. Great plugin!

input and ouput level control would be great addition but not automatic , i guess it would adjust the output to be alwayss close to 0db and it s too loud for mixing use

Does it fart?

It's already zero, no?
it's so close... but no. 7 samples. which is enough to cause phase issues (i think) if I don't compensate. and if I do compensate, the way REAPER operates is it will double my system latency in order to enable PDC. it's not a huge deal though, I can still use the plugin during the later stages of a project (post-tracking). it would be nice to be able to throw it on inserts whenever and not have to worry about any of the above issues. this is pretty specific to REAPER though, so i'm not sure if other hosts would run into this.

Too much imho since it would be hard to fine tune. I'd frankly speaking prefer even +/-6 dB than +/-24.

A solution could be an one more "+/-6,12,24 range" switch but having too many controls is also not so great.

I'm using Sonalksis Free G to ramp up my level going in...anywhere from 12-26 dB. My peaks during tracking hit around -10.

i love bootsie stomp pedal setup.
f-in crazy.

If Bootsie's going to go +/-24db on the input stage then output compensation becomes a must IMO. The worst of it: I've been loving the FATSO so much I haven't actually checked this out yet.

do yourself a favour Funky :)
this one has the most graceful overload behaviour of all bootsie's plugins yet IMHO.
"Dont mistake your inability to understand how this happens for it actualy being imposible. " - nollock

Unfortunately not in real life. I should have tried this before posting that. When Ferric gets driven a LOT (like making it a distortion thingy, far from anything subtle) the amount of needed compensation on the output is way bigger that what it fed into the input.

That's what the VST fine tune mode was invented for. Shift drag on any control does that.
