I think that time will simply pass it by and 'all those memories will be lost like tears in rain' (to quote RB from Bladerunner)

Yeah, same with eXT when Jorgen was still around. I guess that's one reason I moved to Reaper - you still get that sort of responsiveness on their forum at least.

Sounds like there is still a bit of confusion over Tracktion's future and I don't know why cause its one of the best or if not the best music program about today. :tu:

I don't think the plug-in bundle was a particularly good idea, cause most may prefer to pick the plugs that they think will sit in their mix and it adds too much to the selling price.

Loops and the alike, I hope not. :x

All the program needs is continual developement and refinement, as well keeping compatible whith the lasest operating system and hardware developements. If they just stick to that they could probably charge a little more and probably be easier to sell. If Makie are not selling too many Tracktions, they are probably not selling too many mixers, speakers and whatever anyway?

Main thing is to keep exsisting customers whith upgrades? :D

I can't think of using any other program than Tracktion, it's the most versatile and practical program out there. :)

I want my update now, my credit card is ready right now :x

I don't see why they don't hire Jules on an occasional 6 month contract to code bug fixes and minor enhancements just to keep things moving, however slowly. That's the problem with large corporations like LOUD Technologies, though. When times get tough they only look at where they think they can get some short-term gains.

I wish we could all chip-in ourselves and hire Jules!

How expensive is he and how many are we? [dream-mode on] Maybe it could be done similiar to a group-buy so everyone participating had to pay a certain amount, if more join, the initial paid sum gets a partial revenue [mode off]...

So, can the OP please change the subject-title to Tracktion is not alive anymore - because like this I will always visit the thread against one's better judgment. :x

I've come to really appreciate the improvements in T3 from T2. I had a bunch of synths that would NOT automate properly in T2; T3 no prob. Even the much maligned loop browser is handy, for browsing directories and such. But the bendy arrows--

(grim silence)

That...that cut to the quick, it did.

There's no confusion here. The emails from Mackie indicate that Tracktion is not even a consideration for upgrade in the near future. It's gone.
Software which is under development has bugs fixed at least semi regular intervals. There has not been an update for Trackltion in a long time, not even a minor release.
It had a good future before it was sold off.

Well that is what happens when you join up whith the big boys cause they are only interested in the short term. They make X number of a particular product and the next year they move on to something else that might get you to spend a few more dollars. Maybe far as Makie is concerned they might believe Tracktion is now obsolete?

No update since a while. no information from mackie. seams that T4 is a myth being kept alive by us users not by mackie.

I think Tracktion is dead. what a pity.

I don't think you can even buy T3 anymore. The Mackie website links you to local suppliers, all of whom say it is discontinued. So far as I can see, not only is T4 not on th edrawing board, T3 is no more either. What a huge pity indeed. :(

You can still get it. Musiciansfriend and other online retailers have it.

Why would you want to buy an obviously orphaned and buggy product?

Anyway, you'd better make sure that you can still authorize it on Mackie's site.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

I have no idea what the future is for Tracktion. But I will say that everything isn't always as it may seem. It's easy to assume that intentions and priorities were not in the right place, and it's easy to place Mackie as the bad guys. And sure, it would be great to "hire" Jules to get it going again. But let's remember that the reason he sold it is because he grew weary of coding it. He wanted to focus on JUCE and get away from Tracktion's development.

I don't think anyone is necessarily the "bad guy" here. I just think it wasn't thought out the best in terms of where things were going. There WAS a vision for where Tracktion was going with Mackie, I promise you. But for whatever reason, other things remained more important and changed that vision.

I hope that something comes up some day and Tracktion sees new light, regardless of all that. I wouldn't count it out yet, despite the overwhelming odds against it continuing. Ya never know, eh?

(don't read into my statements too much. I really don't know exactly what is going on)
