Something I just ran into with EnergyXT 2.1 on Linux (Indamixx Transmission 3.0):

The program doesn't show up in JACK's connection window (ALSA tab) to be connected to MIDI input. As a result it cannot be played from an external MIDI keyboard. When ran simultaneously with some another program like Alsa Modular Synth (AMS), the other program such as AMS does come up normally, it can be connected, it responds to the external MIDI keyboard fine so everything else seems to work correctly, only EnergyXT doesn't join the fun.

Not sure if this could be caused because EnergyXT is still running as demo (I haven't received the serial yet), or maybe I need to specially select/designate a synth track for external MIDI to get Energy to activate itself around ALSA; I haven't seen such a mention in the manual.

Here are the details of what I would consider to be a MIDI Out bug.

OS: Windows XP Pro SP 3
XT Ver: 2.5.2 - Standalone mode

On the MIDI Tab in the setup option under the File Menu

I have the following MIDI Ports checked (of course these are specific to my rig)

MIDI Inputs
E-MU Xmidi2x2 MIDI In 1
E-MU Xmidi2x2 MIDI In 2
Edirol PCR MIDI In
Edirol PCR 1
Edirol PCR 2
Roland SH-201

MIDI Outputs
Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth
E-MU Xmidi2x2 MIDI Out 1
E-MU Xmidi2x2 MIDI Out 2
Edirol PCR MIDI Out
Edirol PCR
Roland SH-201

When I right-click on the MIDI In icon in the modular window and select the Device option on the context menu. I get the ALL option as well as an option for each of the MIDI inputs listed above.

However, when I right click on the MIDI Out icon, all I have is the ALL option. What I am trying to do is direct MIDI to specific ports. For example, I would like to send 1 MIDI track to my SH-201 and another to my SH-32. What is happening with the all option is that data is being sent to all the active ports (hence the word ALL).

I have tried adding a new MIDI Out in addition to the one that is created by default, I have tried deleting the default MIDI Out and creating 2 new ones. I am kind of at a dead end.

Energyxt 2.5.2 using automation to control the LFO sync rate of VST's Albino 3 or N.I Massive will crash Energyxt within 2-3 bars without fail! It has made it impossible for me to use this program. I even reinstalled XP incase i had some OS problems. All software i use is payed for and latest versions.
Is there something i can do or is this a known problem?

I hope this is the right thread for this (it's mix of bugs and suggestions):

I have a "habbit" to add more VSTs into same track. Example - I added 5 instances of Sylenth1 to one track and also Absynth, so I can use same MIDI editor for all.
Then I wanted to delete Absynth from the list of VSTs in the track - but I CAN'T (except if I delete the whole track including the rest VSTs and all MIDI data).
I figured out that if works if I go to MIXER or MODULAR page and search all plugins (or channels) to find the right one and delete it from there (I have one project now with about 30-40 channels). Then it works.

But when I went to MODULAR page, I found there let's say 20 other VSTs, which I already deleted from the Sequencer page including the tracks where they belonged (because I was trying some other VSTs before and I was deleting their whole tracks then). But they still appeared on the MODULAR page, just making a mess there... (and they appear also all on the same place, so they need to be dragged out of the crowd of other VSTs, to see them separated).
So I had to manually delete those other 20 VSTs (which I don't need any more) which I already deleted once from the SEQUENCER page.

Then I wanted to check one VST (it was Sylenth1 again) from the track in SEQUENCER page. I wanted to found it in MODULAR page. Lucky me... I choosed just the "right" one, which doesn't appear on the MODULAR page at all... althought it still works in SEQUENCER and it has also it's channel in MIXER. I checked few times all the modules on Modular page, also the other VSTs, but that instance of Sylenth1 is just not there any more (yes, I dragged all VSTs from that VST crowd, to separate them all).

So I guess, if I would want to do something with that Sylenth1 instance on the modular page, I would need to delete it in the SEQUENCER first - oh gee, I can't delete it there (as I told above)... so (luckily), there is another chance to delete it on the MIXER page. After I would delete it, I would need to drag another instance of Sylenth1 into track (using the same sound as the previous one), what should bring that new VST on the Modular page too.

Is this acrobatic :) excercize normal or it can be done in more smooth way? And what about the bug, with the VST instance (Sylenth1 in my case), appearing and working in Sequencer and Mixer, but not appearing on the Modular page...
If I accidentally deleted that VST from the Modular page, wouldn't it be nice, if I would get WARNING that this VST is still "ACTIVE" in sequencer, so it would be deleted from sequencer too (what it supposed to work, to delete it on Sequencer page), althought it looks that in this case, deleting VST on Modular page didn't delete its VST on the sequencer page (if I accidentally deleted this VST on Modular page before).
Or maybe - that VST instance which appears on Sequencer page, maybe never appeared on the Modular page at all... ?

I hope this was not too long, but I (had to) explain a little more how it behaves, so everything is more clear. ;)

Thanks for reading!

P.S.
I have EnergyXT 2.5.1 (a bit old version already).

In regards to bug:
Looks:
07Dec19- No way to change Mixer Mute and Solo "Pushed" state.
this is more than a 'looks' issue.

There is a bug in the Mixer and Sequencer - if you Solo or Mute a track in the Mixer when you switch to the Sequencer it does not show the track as being either in Solo or Mute - and vice versa! Worse still is that the Solo/Mute function in either the Mixer or Sequencer works exclusively - you cannot unMute or unSolo a track in one that has been toggled in the other.

I just accidentally Solo'd the wrong track in the Mixer and spent 1/2 hour trying to figure out if it was something I did or if the file had gotten corrupted.

Also the Sequencer has a master Mute/Solo indicator/toggle. The Mixer needs one as well.

Using v2.5.3 beta host mode Win 32.

@TheSteven:

This is NOT necessarily a bug, although some find it confusing...

Hi,
I'm having difficulty switching EnergyXT presets within Audiomulch. When I switch EnergyXT VST presets inside of Audiomulch, EnergyXT VST crashes.

I contacted Ross Bencina, Audiomulch's developer, who said it may be do to a bug in energyXT and that 'switching presets via MIDI AudioMulch is calling dispatcher/effSetChunk from the audio thread, and XT is only crashing in that case, not when effSetChunk is invoked from the GUI thread.'

It would be great to see this resolved.

Thanks,
Joseph

Under Windows 7, importing mp3 files with LAME does not work if the project is saved in a restricted location, e.g. anywhere inside "program files". Works if energyXT is ran with administrator powers, or if the project is saved at a folder owned by the user.

So, with windows 7 and probably Vista too it's good policy to have a xt2 projects folder contained in your user folder.

10Jun04- June 4th beta - WinXP

Haven't used XT for a while:
Some bugs, couldn't find in the list.

- Drum sample editor, dragging the end loop marker beyond the start of the loop causes the marker to get stuck. (Dragged the end loop hoping to reverse the drum sample!!)

- Mute a track with an arp running with hold does not mute the arp! Continues playing...

- Changing patches in the synth edit window does not update the object bar. Also, object bar only shows the first output, making the patch selector only half useful.

Fixed in 2.5.3 final:

10Jun18- The instrument track context-menu now displays 'Add...' on the top of the sub menus under 'Output' and choosing it does not do anything.

@Jorgen:
Please correct this 'MIDI In MIDI In' to just 'MIDI In' under the 'Input' sub menu.
Can't be this hard...

Don't know if this has already been mentioned, if so: then remove this post.

2.5.3: Soundfont implementation seem to lack proper playback of loops.

Post

Not sure if this is covered but. If i reverse the (S) Start and (E) End markers positions, i can just about retrieve the Start marker but the End one is stuck at the beginning of the sample. The tabs feel all wrong and fiddly in general.

2.5.3
BR- Can't listen to sample in external editor (wavosaur) when opening to edit from XT2. The program won't share the ASIO4All driver with Wavosaur.
