Hi,

I would like to record automation data using the GUI of a VSTi (say FilterCutOff) for a whole song. After browsing this forum, this is
what I've done: I add an instrument track in the sequencer and direct its
output to the VSTi I want to automate. I add the FilterCutOff to this
track. I create an empty part that has the length of the whole song.
I set the loop for the whole song, select the instrument,
start recording and turn the FilterCutOff-knob on the VSTi-GUI.
But I can't see any automation beeing recorded. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you very much!

Hello you don't have to assign a 'second' track with any output for the automation,
drag the plugin into the sequencer , an instrument track is created (you dont need to set its output) create empty clip of song length , first record the
midi note data into the clip , and stop rec when note data is ok then
, go in record mode again (without setting any controller cc)
turn vst knob on gui while in record , stop record , double click the clip you recorded in and you should see an automation lane inside the clip now
(default automation is for 'volume' , you can switch to view the parameter you just automated by clicking the little arrows)

on some vsti gui's automation recording isn't possible this way and an automation lane has to be assigned in the clip manually
