Is mind control right for me?

I'm thinking of purchasing Mind Control, but wanted to make sure its going to do what I want before purchase. First off, let me explain my current work flow.

I'm running Logic pro with Kontakt instruments, and I've setup a special switcher in the Logic environment that translates midi CC (in this case CC 101-116) into midi channels 1-16. This allows me to load multiple different articulations for an instrument in Kontakt (i.e. sustained flute on channel 1, staccato on channel 2) and using the switches on my keyboard which I've assigned to midi CC's 101-116, I can switch between these different articulation patches in real time on a single track!!

Recently I've incorporated a 2nd computer into my setup, and I'm now using VE pro to host Kontakt on this slave. My logic environment switcher still works, but unfortunately the AU spec does not allow you to use more then 16 midi channels per kontakt instance. In logic this was no big deal, as Logic is optimized well for using multiples of the same plugin, so I would just load a new plugin for each instrument (30-40 for an orchestra). However, VSL recommends that I load as much as I can into as few VE pro instances as I can, so I'm wondering if mind control can make this possible.

Though Kontkat in VE pro is limited to 16 midi channels, Kontakt still has 64 slots for patches. So using mind control, will I be able to do the following? Load 4 Flute articulations all assigned to midi channel 1, all outputting audio out Kontakt 1/2, load 4 Clarinet articulations all assigned to midi channel 2 all outputting audio out Kontakt 3/4, load 4 oboe articulations all assigned to midi channel 3 all outputting audio out Kontakt 5/6, and on and on, which each midi channel having its own track in Logic. Now, using mind control, can I set it up so midi CC's 101-104 (which are assigned to buttons on my keyboard) switches between the 4 different articulations for each midi channel? So if I selected button 1 (midi CC 101) on midi track 1, I'm playing the Flute sustain patch. I then switch to midi track 2, and push button 2 (midi cc 102) and I'm now playing my Clarinet staccato patch? Remember, this is all in one kontakt instance, so I'm thinking I'll need a mind control for each midi channel, and it will need to be set to only respond to a specific midi channel input (i.e. the mind control for midi channel 1 only effects the Flute, the one on midi channel 2 only effects the Clarinet, etc).

I hope I explained this well enough, and boy do I wish there was a way to demo mind control before purchase. Judging from the video it looks awesome, but I'm unsure how well it will integrate into my workflow (thus the question). If I had Kontakt 4 back when you were doing your 35% off sale, I would have just bought it without asking these questions!!

I just sent you an email reply. The gist of it, for everybody else reading, is that it sounds like Mind Control could be of use, in terms of combining instruments into single MIDI channels. However, the main limitation is 5 instances of Mind Control (each powering a separate instrument bank in a single instance of Kontakt), due to the multiscript limit in Kontakt 4. So that's essentially 5 channels per instance of Kontakt, though it allows you to combine up to 128 patches in each channel.

I purchased Mind control and it didn't quite work the way I wanted it to, so I send him an email and Greg tweaked it for me in less then a day!! All preliminary tests are GREAT and its doing exactly what I want!! I know some companies who take multiple days just to reply to an email, and end up saying "we will add this as a future feature request" which never gets implemented. Greg and Orange Tree Samples instead turn around and give me an updated version IN LESS THEN A DAY!!!

Anyone on the fence about any products from Orange Tree should jump off and buy because of the AMAZING support and care the Greg shows for his customers and his products!! Greg, you are an amazing human being, and you have made me a customer for life! Hopefully one day I'll get the honor of thanking you in person.
