Are there any Hardstyle producers here? I'd be interested in keeping his discussion going, even though the last post was made in 2011.
4 years after it became popular, there is STILL not a single sample around (commercial or otherwise) for a good Hardstyle Kick. I've managed to come pretty close after months of trying, but I'm still nt close enough - and there are no good tips anywhere. YouTube is full of kiddies making "tutorials" (lol) where 5000 steps are done in 5 sec. to make sure you don't see anything. It's incredible. And their sounds are crap to begin with. They layer dozens of EQs and distortion FXs just for the heck of it, without knowing what or why they need it, or where they're going.
Are there any GOOD pointers or tips from people who know what they're talking about? My impression is that Apple Logic's specific Clip Distortion is required for this specific sound. Any further comments or ideas? 4 years later, the secret is guarded as closely as its ever been.

You know the examples on display here aren't exactly the pinnacle achievements of the genre. They sound a bit old too.munchkin wrote:Excuse my OT - How come this music hasn't evolved very much? We were dancing to tracks like this at Trade in '94. The happy hardcore scene was even harder and faster then. The kicks are maybe a little bit harder now 18 years on. I expect more from todays young'uns.

Good samples for hardstyle there.
Indeed, that's the only sample library available...and IT SUCKS. I tried it when it came out 3-4 years ago. Hardstyle doesn't sound like that now, it's a little more raw. But even 3 years ago it wasn't the commercial Dutch sound, it was some experimental distorted kicks with a punch and bass-tail overlaid on top of it, that sounded nothing like commercial Dutch Nu-Style.
