abandoning sylenth1...

I get why Lennard is upset about the rumors and why he wanted to respond.
However, he has not updated his website in three years, and has only posted in this forum a few times in the last six months, and that was largely in response to questions, not anything he initiated.
I think an occasional friendly, unsolicited word from him about Sylenth, even if it is to promote some of the presets others are making for it, or even just to share a little of what is going on in his life, will create much more positive feeling for him and his products and would likely cut down on some of the rumors.
Sylenth is a very good synth, but it has a lot more competition now in its price and quality range than it did a few years ago, and I think it would be good for Lennard to be a more positive and reassuring presence in the music making community.

Lennard created a synth that has been great fun to thousands of musicians, and remains the leader in number of sound sets designed and available. Witness the fantastic new sound set created by Tehlord and released today - http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=339922.ravasb wrote:Sylenth is a very good synth, but it has a lot more competition now in its price and quality range than it did a few years ago, and I think it would be good for Lennard to be a more positive and reassuring presence in the music making community.
Even though there is no PWM/sync the sounds Sylenth makes put a smile on my face every time I twist a knob. There is no competition for Sylenth

I agree its a good Synth but to say there is no competition doesn't doC-note wrote:Lennard created a synth that has been great fun to thousands of musicians, and remains the leader in number of sound sets designed and available. justice to some of the other great synths out there.
For example Dune and Predator imo are more advanced synths than Sylenth but due to their relative complexity and perhaps lack of Trance presets they haven't quite had the same level of success or have the instant gratification when scrolling through their presets.
Actually I've pretty much outgrown Sylenth now as I finally decided to put the effort in to create my own presets using Dune. Not to say I don't or won't grab for Sylenth if I am in a hurry to get some basic ideas down though.
Yeah I must say I had to laugh seeing Lennar finally making an appearence in
the other thread. Not the most positive response after being away for so long either.
Not the happiest of developers these days thats for sure.

Haha, you know what's also funny. On 19th i sold my sylenth since i already gave up about the future of sylenth. But reading lennard comment on the other thread gives me some hopes. I only wish for him to finally develop sylenth 2, because no matter what it's still the most used synth in the world (i think so, if we count the amount of crack user producer wannabe).

Regarding a 64bit update, If you have a DAW that can run 32bit plugs and you know it will in future. Then I don't think it makes sense to abandon Sylenth1 even if there will never be future updates. Reason is, 64bit software DON'T give you better sound quality (I assume you know that). They just allow for more than 4GB of RAM to be used (practically 3GB). Sylenth1 takes only about 25mb per instance which is way below the 3GB limit (about 122 times lower). So you can run like 90 or 100 sylenth instances in 32bit with no problems, and thats in a 32bit DAW. 64bit DAWs under 64bit OS should have no problems running more.
But if you want to abandon it because of other reasons, like you want better sounds for your future music then thats a different story.

i'm NOT abandoning S1, i use it too much.
anyway, it's the 32bit bridge in Logic that's cranky, not S1 itself.
still...S1 is the ONLY 32bit plugin left in my arsenal...

no, all good. just wanted to clarify.
sadly, 64bit is not twice as good, or loud, or better than 32bit...

How can anyone abandon a working AMAZING synth is beyond me...
I still use Oatmeal and Surge for that matter, and Lennard is still there, probably working on something even more beautiful, but that's just a prediction.
I'll use Sylenth1 until it will work. Yes DUNE is great too, but Sylenth1'sound is just special!

assume u mean you'll use it until it WON'T work.
i LOVE sylenth1, was just concerned because the 32bit bridge in Logic was crashing.
but...curiously, it's not crashing much lately.
anyway, am NOT abandoning S1, it's too much a part of my sound...

Yes. Until it won't work, you're right. But until Lennard is around I'm sure it will keep going for long long time.fisherKing wrote:liquidsound wrote:How can anyone abandon a working AMAZING synth is beyond me...

So the guy has not updated his website in 3 years...lots of websites aren't updated either. I've got even older VST's that are archived on a PII system...and they still work...sheesh.

Active sites are updated and active developers who have pride in their products and an ounce of respect for their paying customers care.trimph1 wrote:So the guy has not updated his website in 3 years...lots of websites aren't updated either. In-Active sites and inactive developers who have no pride in their products or no respect for their customers prolly don't care.

I agree, Dune, Predator, Diva et al are wonderful synths but, they do not have the Sylenth sound.aquar wrote:I agree its a good Synth but to say there is no competition doesn't doC-note wrote:Lennard created a synth that has been great fun to thousands of musicians, and remains the leader in number of sound sets designed and available. I just don't understand this. The synth is one of the best digital synths around period. You buy it for what it is. I don't get this idea that the developer has to continually work on a product that is mature.
