i am also wondering if I will end up with mono if i use the xlr or 1/4 cable. seems like that is inevitable.
thanks for putting up with my dumb question.
that looks cool. thanks.dswo wrote:Try one of these for US$5: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00499 ... 00_details. It takes audio line out from your dock connector and turns it into 1/8" stereo, for a cleaner signal than your headphone output.
Thanks. I almost ordered it without further research.sonicflux wrote:Note that the cable from Amazon linked above won't work on the iPad 2. I believe the iPad 2 and iPhone 4 did away with the audio out pins on the dock port.
If you have the 2, you need to take audio out of the headphone jack or use a class compliant USB interface with the camera connection kit.
thanks.clonewar wrote:Hosa makes the cable you need..

My local Best Buy carries it in the store, that's where I bought mine.
I just retested this. The Amazon cable works fine on my iPad 2 and iPod Touch 4G. The only drawback that I know of: the iPad's internal volume control is for the built-in amplifier. Since you are bypassing that with this cable, you have to control volume on the device you are plugging into.sonicflux wrote:Note that the cable from Amazon linked above won't work on the iPad 2. Nice. Thanks for looking into that. Maybe it was the line in pins that they did away with. Sorry for the misinformation.dswo wrote: I just retested this. Yes: earlier versions of the iPhone and iPod dock connector had an analogue line-in pin. This was replaced in the iPhone/iPod 4 with a digital line-in.sonicflux wrote:dswo wrote:Maybe it was the line in pins that they did away with.
