Sorry about that, my intention wasn't to say you were not smart or anything like that. It does however, make a difference to people when misinformation is provided and they are trying to make a purchase decision.idolo1co wrote:Drastic sale..errr..OK...saw nothing along those lines this past year except a $50 coupon and no, it's not the same as a discount based on quantity of previous purchases...but...OK...whatever...to each his own
My UAD-1 box clearly says "Mackie" on it..but..I dunno...whatever..moot point really...was establishing a timeline...some people will nitpick ANYTHING...literally.
I'm not "blaming" UA for my CPU/Moterboard incompatibility so no need to jump to conclusions..it's a fact there can be incompatibilities, is something to be considered and hence was mentioned..at no point did I "infer" I was blaming them....
And I've never purchased a flexi version....hence...only logical conclusion here = I'm not smart...OR...I ALREADY had a card as well as the plugins included in it so made NO SENSE to buy again....$50 coupon or not...cheers
uad 2 : is it worth the money ?

Personally, I'd like them to keep the current prices but double the power of all cards as follows:ttoz wrote:Surely that last bit is generally agreed upon? Either that or drop prices.
Duo $399
Quad $899
Octo $1,499
This way UA still gets to keep the same basic selling structure and the end user is kept up to pace with the rising DSP requirements of UA's latest plug-ins.

I agree - Octo or no go! £1,200 for a QUAD is insane and a rip off. Concerning your earlier comment about going all UAD if you had the money, I would never do that even if I had the money because I really like a lot of native plugins more than some of the UAD ones. Although if you had the money for the whole UAD system then you'd probably also have the money for loads of native stuff.ttoz wrote:I think an Octo with newer gen sharcs is what is really needed. The top flight card, from reading the instances at their site just recently, imo should be at least 4 times the power of the current quad. Imo, of course!

hmm, I'm not too aligned with that opinion. Now that Sonnox is going UAD, the only native plug-in I use regularly that can't be done or bettered on a UAD is the Neon HR. I guess that's why my 4 year old Q6600 is still way too much power for my needs.munchkin wrote:Concerning your earlier comment about going all UAD if you had the money, I would never do that even if I had the money because I really like a lot of native plugins more than some of the UAD ones.

I thought the UAD-2 and the 21369's were the new sharcs? Are there newer ones?ttoz wrote:I think an Octo with newer gen sharcs is what is really needed. I've actually heard more negative reports about it than positive. Maybe it's just too heavy-handed.ttoz wrote:Hmmm, that's the point, subtle enhancement. Rc tube is incredible. I don't think you are going to find a better analog summing emu. I am very surprised you didn't like it.

I prefer my Xils-Lab, FXpansions, Camel Audio and PSP plugins much more than a lot of what UAD has to offer for creative FX. UAD plugins could never replace them and nor are they meant to so a UAD only studio would be creative hell for me. Some of the reverbs I have are much more suited to the kind of music I make than UAD verbs. UAD has some outstanding plugins but getting locked into the prohibitive prices of the UAD dongles is a mistake I'll not make again.Uncle E wrote:hmm, I'm not too aligned with that opinion. I don't think I could've made this without the RE-201:munchkin wrote:I prefer my Xils-Lab, FXpansions, Camel Audio and PSP plugins much more than a lot of what UAD has to offer for creative FX. I'd agree, the tape delay emu sounds very nice. especially the long feedback towards the middle of the song.
cheers.
