I presume it would continue to work as long as your hardware supported it, am I right? It will always work for me. It is completely indispensible in my aresenal. So when the time comes to upgrade PC (and therefore OS), I will maintain a seperate WinXP system solely for Albino ---- "I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms" "Oooh I dont know. Arguments like "I suggested the scream filter and the layer thing" are not worth much on its own, and misleading. This would be definitively not enough to claim any intellectual property on a synth concept, especially after 10 years in a field of ever evolving technology. Even the sounds are a weak argument, as any idiot could write a short script to transfer them into a new format.
The most important fact is that a new synth that is supposed to load all (really all) Albino presets would absolutely need to 100% (really 100%) copy the architecture of Albino (and probably expand it), and in that case we are approaching both trademark and design copyright territory. We know that Albino was distributed by both Linplug and Rob Papen, but we do not know the legal basis. If it was clearly "sounds=Rob" and "synth=Peter", then Peter would have all rights to make an Albino4, without the presets included. If Albino was a collaborative design on many levels (and if this is noted in written form), Peter would most likely need written consent from Rob to evolve the basis of Albino3 into a new product. And as the situation looks like, this might not be happen. Rob will not be willing to give it away for free, because his financial interests lie in his own new snyths. And I doubt that it makes sense economically for Peter to invest additional money into the rights of a ten year old synth concept. Georg |

I, for one, love the mellow sound of Albino. I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing what Peter comes up with next! ---- Incomplete list of my gear: Microsoft Windows XP |

This may be an unfavorable opinion, but I don't really see the need for either party to offer "crossgrades". The whole notion is silly.
Albino's had a good run as far as plugin lifespans go - honestly I'd like to see it continue, but all good things must end - If Linplug continues support for 2 more years as stated, what more do people expect? |

I was going to take up the cross grade offer to Predator BUT......FFS I seriously wish developers would piss off Share-It once and for all. I will NOT be ripped off on their bullshit exchange rates....$179 US = $210 AU....considering their business is based on currency you would consider they might realise that the Australian Dollar is worth more than the American one.
Maybe one man can't make a difference, but I swear, from this day, I will not support any developer who only offers Share it as a payment option. They are a bunch of arseholes plain and simple. Maybe if others took a stand on this, developers might look for a fairer deal for their customers....Thumbs up to Urs on this, how about the rest of you. ---- Where the Hell is Murrumburrah????? Well may you ask, but there I dwell! |

I'd contact Share It directly because that's ridiculous. I;ve watched currency almost every day and the Aussie dollar has always been on par/a little below what the dollar is. Unless they are tacking on a 'currency conversion' fee like my dear lovely bank does. |
