Hi,

Is Presonus 'Studio One Pro (v2)' much more efficient than Cubase 6.5 on Mac OSX (Lion) ?

or are they pretty much equal as far as VST efficiency, and latency goes ?

Any feedback, or tests done comparing both when loaded with a good number of VSTs ?

Thanks,

Without a doubt, yes.

I tried multiple comparison tests just a couple of weeks ago and Cubase choked hard quite quickly comparatively. It was almost as bad as Pro Tools (which is saying something - I love PT 10 though when used with Vienna Ensemble Pro). Logic and Reaper still beat S1v2 I think in terms of efficiency, but I haven't run into an issue on S1v2 in terms of running out on my Mac Pro yet. It is plenty efficient enough - I don't know if I can say the same thing about Cubase. Plus, without the easy bounce in place functionality of Logic / S1v2, I think even the "saving CPU workflow" of Cubase isn't as good.

Thanks for the feedback.

I wonder if there is a major performance difference with S1-Pro v2 running on Mac vs PC ? or is it pretty much the same, or slightly better on PC ?

This is why I wish someone could give me a free Studio One version 2 license: I have Cubase on a macbook pro, so the CPU problems are omnipresent. heh....
