Did you try ReaGate? It has an external sidechain and you could use an EQ on it before the input to de-ess.

Hi ttoz,

as explained in another thread, with the latest enhancements the MIDI side chain feature works well for most people, and we have had a couple of other high priorities lately. But it's definitely still in the list.

Praise for blue cats dynamics...but please make it external sidechain compatible!!
