Anyway, I don't know if my posts are working or not. For tube saturation I can only recommend 1 plug-in.

http://wavearts.com/products/plugins/tube/

So try this before you get (if you can even afford) twintube.

Yes shame about the SPL plug-ins, specially twintube, however if you ask me the very best tube emulation I've ever heard was WaveArts TubeSat. I wan't to buy that sometime. Someone was selling it here for $50 not long ago. Should have picked it up its a steal at that price.

Don't worry about the CPU usage, just get around it somehow. I typically never like "tube" or "saturation" plug-ins but this one really sounds good.

Fixed. You don't need the URL tags...they seem to always cause trouble.

I will try the flux one again, that's on the to-demo list. It's free anyway like you said.

It's bad, if you move to smoothness side, it manage to make everything lifeless,
even with the slightest amount. If you try to boost, it's not convincing either.

I suppose if you are working with pre-programming 4/4 drums you could make any transient shape you want with something like this: http://www.kvraudio.com/product/stormgate1_by_araldfx

I wouldn't recommend it. Even if the time resolution was high enough, it would be a PITA to program it for a whole track.

If you're using Cubase you're in luck. The included Envelope Shaper is my favorite transient designer.

+1
I once tried all kinds of transient designers but I couldn't find a single one that did something more interesting or "better" than I could do with the Cubase one.
I rarely use transient designers though.

I like the Cubase one for simple transient shaping, but this is the other one I use for more complex shaping plus saturation

I say Grasso (and Mattertone but i haven't got that one 'yet') and im not biased! Grasso is not just a transient shaper though, you get a lot more in that plug Smile

I tried the demos of most of the ones mentioned and ended up getting Voxengos Transgainer. Sounds great on drums!
