I've thought about that before too...just tweak the dial/slider to the minimum and maximum values and record the movements as host automation. A meta parameter tweaker, or something like that. It would be nice!

Can't you do it via midi automation ?
It would help to know which plugin and host you're using.

I'm thinking NRPN(Non Registered Parameter Number) or what is stands for.
If you know the NRPN code for the plug it can be done.
But it could be any CC that is not reported to host I guess.
But if plugin is not prepared for that parameter it cannot be done.

I'm trying to automate the Release of Filterfreak in Reaper. It's not in the parameters list and can't be mapped to midi. I thought that every control that is accessible through the GUI is mappable.jupiter8 wrote:Can't you do it via midi automation ?

One would think so - since you get the settings saved with host with your track and project.izonin wrote:I'm trying to automate the Release of Filterfreak in Reaper. But I think that is proprietary binary format for each plugin with just x bytes length and nondocumented.
And programmingwise you need to take extra care about parameters that are changed in realtime, not to get crackles and pops in audio when they are changed. So it takes some effort to do that.
So if there were VST hosts that could take such snapshots in between and record that for automation I guess you could end up with unwanted noise from plug doing that.

sorry. I want to help but not that much. Our 30-day demos do not require an iLok authorization but you must have the most recent Pace iLok drivers installed. These can be downloaded here.

I'm interested in automating such controls in general, that's why I didn't start this topic in the Effects forum. Can't believe there's no workaround.

Don't think there's a workaround except for Soundtoys to fix what is really a bug..
