Rob Papen SubBoomBass is my favorite but I guess it all depends on what type of music you're making. Trillian would probably be great if you're looking for realistic bass guitar sounds but for electronic music, especially EDM/IDM/Techno/Dubstep, etc... SubBoomBass is well worth every penny of the incredibly inexpensive $100 price tag.

Poly-Ana can do some really massive sounding bass when you use unison.

I also have to say I'm very impressed with how low Tone2 Saurus can go. Some presets I can play on C1 with NO distortion. I also love the mono seems to be actual 'mono' and the led's on the track level are rock solid.

I'm shocked. I don't see Absynth on here anywhere. That synth has any bass that you could possibly want and has the engine to reproduce the low end. Absynth also has some very evil bass presets - without even trying. All previously listed synths make good basses, but Absynth basses can be special.

In theory any good capable synth should be able to make some good basses, often with a particular flavor, though there are also specialised instruments like Trillian or Subboom bass as well.
Maybe you could try some demos of some synths and first determine the type of synthesis you feel will give you the type of basses you desire : VA, FM, WaveTable, Additive, Hybrid/multisynthesis or even romplers/samplers ?
Then once your search filed is a bit refined try a few more demos of some synths that use approx the same type of synthesis and decide wich is the best for you ?

2 synths leap to mind, Saurus being one, it's got some real grit to it.
Karma FX Modular being the other, probably because you can program it to be a bass beast from scratch, but I do like the 303 filter in it.
