Have just snaffled the plugs from my T3 install disc.
Most if not all of the other plugs ie Compressors Eq Reverb seem to be behaving. Great news.
However Final Mix is acting strange.
When a new preset is selected, it silences the playback.
Either on a track or on a main output buss.
The only way to bring audio back is to delete the filter, or hit "Active" so it deactivates and lets audio pass. (Dark Blue setting on GUI)
Every so often when selecting a new Final Mix preset the audio will continue. But rarely.
I should add, playback head still moves but no audio is heard.
I only ever used this in Windows XP and it certainly does not behave the same right now.
Mountain Lion 10.8.3
Tracktion 4.3.0 32 Bit.
Really great to nearly have all these plugs back in the arsenal.

I had to do some nasty hacks to get these old things to work at all - not surprised if there are still a few glitches. Unfortunately I doubt whether there's much that could be done - this sounds more like an internal plugin bug, but will have a quick look when I get chance.

Is there any likelihood that these plugs will ever make it to 64 bit T4?

I very much doubt it. I suspect most people would prefer that efforts are put into T5 development rather than hacking away at Mackie plugins to try to bring them up to scratch.shindigger wrote:Is there any likelihood that these plugs will ever make it to 64 bit T4?
But hey - you never know. I'm sure if you gave Jules & co a nice big brown paper bag full of cash, they might be persuaded to take a look

I think you're misunderstanding.. Those plugins belong to Mackie, not to us! We'd love to be able to update/bundle them again, but we don't have that option!I very much doubt it. I'm well aware they're Mackie plugins, but you've "hacked" them once to make them work with T4 haven't you?jules wrote:

...or is it the T4 codebase which needed the hacks?jules wrote:I had to do some nasty hacks to get these old things to work at all - not surprised if there are still a few glitches. FTR, I don't give a crap about them, they're old and there's lots of better choices available these days.

No! It's tracktion that we "hacked" by adding a bodge so that it could load the plugin. But it's impossible for us to do anything to the plugin itself, we don't even have the source code for it.I'm well aware they're Mackie plugins, but you've "hacked" them once to make them work with T4 haven't you?

So Jules, forgive my lack of knowledge here, i'm guessing there is a roadblock getting these to work in the 64 bit version as they stand?jules wrote:No! Ive tried JBridging them, and they don't show up.

They won't - they are Tracktion only plugins (and properly only really Mackie Traction).shindigger wrote:So Jules, forgive my lack of knowledge here, i'm guessing there is a roadblock getting these to work in the 64 bit version as they stand?jules wrote:No! I'd give up on expecting to see 64 bit versions and look for alternatives. I'm sure there is much better out there (I never saw them as that great in the first place although I realise some people are used to them)

Aye fair enough. Time to bin that particular (free) security blanket.
Wow Waves is so ordinary to my ears.

I'm hardly at the vanguard of production skillz, but I found Mix Control Pro easily substitutes for Final Mix, for my needs.shindigger wrote:mcnelson wrote: FTR, I don't give a crap about them, they're old and there's lots of better choices available these days.

@shindigger did you try the FREE vladg limiter no6 . They have a 64 bit and also an alternative gui that has english . Its also not just a limiter its a ny , sidechain multiband , clipper , it also does oversampling that can hit your cpu hard too ,etc etc . Once you get the feel for it youd like it . Find you an EQ plugin you like , linear phase or not and make a pre/mastering rack with an EQ and Limiter no6 and it would get you close to what your getting with Final mix , maybe try to emulate the preset you like with the EQ and compressor with the 2 plugins . It is too bad Mackie hasnt done anything with Acuma final mix though . Some Eqs that are affordable are spline Eq and the ddmf eq s. If you are using the 32 bit Tracktion 4 or use Jbridge there are more options like cockos reaplugs for ex.
