I know that there seems to be a lot of drama on this board to due to a variety of reasons that I don't want to put into this post

Overall I'm pretty happy with Energy XT. I find that if I don't use the sampler\synthesizer and more for just the sequencer features I'm pretty good to go.

I'm really happy with xtc function for just experimenting as well as mix versions.

I'm a reaper user too, but for whatever artsy reason I like working in xt first, mixdown then doing all my arrangments in reaper (ripple editing makes things easier for me). But whatever.

What's working well for you folks?

Let's keep this a positive thread. Not that I am one to gloss over the bad stuff, but there is an overabundance of that stuff in other threads.

i love the speed of XT2

with my home made setup i can work as quick but its not the same

Reaper is a Power house & XT2 is a Snazzy speed boat

& porting to Reaper is no long chore

i have also made some good full tracks in XT2

Worked w/ a buddy, he uses FL9, takes freakin forever to do the littlest thing.
XT, you just trow stuff at it, and it works. There's usually an obvious way to do what you want, no 10 layers of productivity killin menus.

Working with XT2 opens up for a very fast workflow. I am able to get my ideas out fast and in the open. The graphical user interface is very no-nonsense and doesen't hinder me.

I also love the speed of XT2, everything is right where I want it.

Before XT2 I used Linux as my everyday OS (programming, mail and surf) and Windows for making music, with XT2 I can finally use Linux as my one and only OS.

XT is one of the few sequencers that allows you to insert a synth or amp sim before the track so you can record audio wet.

It's a simple matter to skip the entire midi/freeze/render process and just record audio tracks. I can even leave my setup (chain) in one place and simply move new tracks to another slot as I complete them. Same deal with vocals too. Unbelievably fast!

Despite the little annoyances I come across with XT, I still just cannot go back to other solutions. I mess around with that modular screen and always end up thinking "why the hell doesn't everyone do it this way?"

I've been playing around with xt on my Mac Mini over the weekend and started a tune (just using xt's seq and my own little self-coded synth). It was a rather good experience, and xt gave a quite stable impression. Potential stability problems could also easily be attributed to the rather crappy Mac's onboard soundcard that I currently use, but the performance was quite smooth allround.

Yep, using XT2 on Mac has kinda rekindled my love of how easy to use it is for getting ideas down quickly (compared to Garageband which I find horrendous in that regard).

Slightly OT, but can anyone recommend a good virtual keyboard for OS X? I had something on PC called "lasi's MidiKeyHook" or something similar, but don't know much about how virtual midi cables, etc. work on OS X. (or even if they are available)

I downloaded Podium free which has just been released. It took me ages to get the sound to work and configure everything. After an age I managed to get a vst loaded and working,but it seems to require setting up each midi channel. It appears stable and does what its supposed to do,but I prefer XT 1 and 2. I really think that Jorgen nailed the design of XT2,its hard to imagine how he could have made it simpler to use.

I purchased 1.3 way back and have licenses for Tracktion and Reaper,but this the only sequencer I ever use now. A couple of seconds to load to my default,and pick up the guitar and play,gets my vote still

Small size exec, only 2.4MB (size of the last v.2.5.3) and the libaam.dll is only 444KB, PORTABLE

, I can take it with me on a pen-drive and use it on (almost) every computer/OS I come across.

I have a WinXP 'LITE' OS, so eXT2 is not populating the Registry/APPDATA or whatever with junk.

Time-stretching from z-plane, modular, synth/sampler/drums/amp-sim, enough to get starting making music out-of-the-box.

Track freeze, beat slicing, rex support, clip library, ..., and the price.

It's working stable, no crashes, lucky me.

You don't have to do anything special, just start that MIDI program and it will become available to any software in your os, just set it as MIDI input in energyXT settings. You can do that with any software that have MIDI out in OSX. That's one of thing I adore in OS X, so simple, yet powerful.

one of the coolest things I've ever seen in a music program:

I had a track with Shortcircuit 2 VSTi, with some drum sounds loaded on multiple layers for velocity crossfading, and a couple bars of MIDI. Just to see what would happen, I exported that track as a clip....

Holy shit, in an empty project with nothing loaded up, the clip previews perfectly...

and fast, too... I thought that, "if by some wierd chance glitch this actually works, it will take a few seconds before i hear anything." But no, not only did it play accurately, it played almost immediately. I don't know how they did that, seriously. I guess the browser loads up SC2, loads the patch info into it, then previews the MIDI through it... Anyway, coolest feature ever

the clips feature, and the way that we don't have to save out sampler patches to transfer songs back and forth,were a couple of the features which made it very, very hard for us to switch to Reaper.

I just discovered MidiKeys. its free and works ok. the problem is that you have to go back a forward from ext2 to midikeys every time you want to adjust anything.
