Besides wanting to start a thread for the yet-unnamed jazz/rock flute library for future updates and announcements, I wanted to give you an early glimpse at how the sample library is shaping up.
Here's something I played from my MIDI keyboard, completely live:

I'm using the mod wheel for dynamics. The vibrato is completely scripted, so its speed and depth will be entirely dynamic. At this point though, the vibrato is just set to kick in after half a second of sustaining the note, at a set speed.
As you can tell from the audio file, the releases on the notes need some work as with some of the legato transitions. I'm also going to be programming in some intelligence to automatically add the the dynamics based on your phrasing, speed, and velocity of the notes. Of course, there will also be the ability to turn all that off if you want complete manual control, or wish to play it with a breath/wind controller.
Because we sampled the flute with many different mic signals, you have a bunch of tonal/mixing options. For example, we sampled it with two close mics--one bright modern condenser mic, and then a vintage ribbon mic for that warm, rounded tone. There's an omni mid mic, and finally a stereo condenser pair for the room. There will be build in mixing controls in the interface, including ready-to-go factory presets as well as the ability to save/load presets.
Anyway, just wanted to keep you all updated on the latest goings-on at Orange Tree Samples.
Greg
