Looking for 2 fx

Hey, Im wondering if anybody could recommend I am looking for 2 different processors.

I'm on mac logic so only AU,

First is a plug in to monoize everything below a certain frequency, so that I can say trap it accross my kick and bass buss and sum everything to mono below 125hz

Also I am looking for a sample and hold effect, the reason I am looking for this is I found this great part in one of my favourite tracks at the moment.. @ 1.30 when the track goes into some weird sounds, I figured this was a sample and hold effect but I could be wrong

Sample and hold is a method of processing (typically) modulation signals. For example, you can process noise with sample and hold using an LFO as a clock source for stepped random modulation with steps occurring in time with the LFO. This type of modulation is used to modulate filters, the pitch of an oscillator, delay time, pretty much anything. I use the LFOs in Zebrify (set to Random Hold) for this kind of thing. Tings get really interesting when you can route any signal you want to sample and hold. I don't know of any effects that let you do that. U-he's Bazille, ACE and DIVA have this feature but they are synths.

Audio Damage's Ronin (with LFOs set to random) is another great effect for sample and hold modulations.

Samplerate reducers are a type of sample and hold effect that work at higher frequencies (usually above 1000Hz).

Regarding 'Mono-izer' effects... ApulSoft's ApQualizer will do that in Mid-Side mode. (any EQ with a MID-Side mode will). I like to use Sonalksis Stereo Tool for that because it's really easy to use.

actually there is a s&h in your dac so the digital conversion can take longer than an infinitely thin period of time. hold quality has a major impact on dac accuracy.

I thought quantization only applied to amplitude (bit crushing, etc.). At least in modular synth land, quantizers usually have a fixed amount of values and output steps are based on how close incoming voltage is to those values at any given time.

I understand that sample and hold can work at any frequency, I just didn't want to confuse the OP too much.

edit: ah, it appears that quantizers need to be clocked as well? I thought that my Doepfer quantizer just jumped to the value nearest to what ever was being sent to the input, without depending on the rate of a clock but it appears that it has an internal 3kHz clock. I learn something new everyday.

Sounds to me more along the lines of just a remix-y type of collage of sounds sequenced, rather than one sound being fed through some kind of random effect. My tool of choice here would probably be Live, it's stupid easy to do this kind of thing if working with pure audio clips and Live is pretty rich with ways to assemble things with not much more than drag n' drop. Getting the sounds to fill these sorts of moments is probably more important than the tool though. ([e] Although again here Live makes it very simple to grab a beat or two out of a loop or sample ...)

One of the Sonalksis stereo tools does exactly that, cant remember the exact name but when I need this its always the one I use

A bit pricey though, but if you buy the bundle it might make sense dunno. I really like them/
