Just found out about these amp sims:

http://lepouplugins.blogspot.com

Haven't had a chance to try them yet, but a few old threads here show that they have fans.

Are they a well kept secret or have people tried them and been unimpressed?

The graphics are really impressive, but the proof is in the shredding, so I'll be checking them out when I get a chance.

Really? Wow, can't believe you haven't tried em yet Shit! They are absolutely SICK (even when compared to quite a few "paid for" amp sims). You won't be disappointed Wink

I just hadn't heard of them. They really don't get spoken of a lot around here - I looked for threads and they're few and far between and old.

Use Hybrit, Legion and Le456 all the time, and I have GR5, TH2 and Amplitube.

Good to know. I might have some time later to play with them or if not I might get time over the weekend. Interesting to know what they sound like.

It's just weird that they're barely talked about here...

Ye, of course, the other part of it is the IR's. Get some good IRs (if you don't have already) and use lecab to load em. Job done.

God's Impulses (Free mesa cab impulses, very nice): http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4501094

Redwires free (A few free Marshall 1960a cab impulses): http://www.redwirez.com/free1960g12m25s.jsp

...and here's a little list with some others, enjoy: http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2010/10/01/free-sample-shoot out-6-best-free-guitar-cabinet-impulse-responses/

i use kefir with redwirez IRs; but 'always' use a lepou amp. lepou ampsims seem to get 'the best sound, with the lowest cpu hit'. ymmv

Quick demo I slapped together using Le456, HyBrit, LeCto, LeGion and LeCab2 with God's Impulses. Nothing flash just a quicky with overcompression on the master Razz

What?!?!? You never heard of them until now? Best freeware ampsims around. SoloC is a spot on Soldano emulation, probably as good or better than Amplitubes or NI's. Hybrit is probably the 2nd best Marshall jcm/plexi emulation, next to Scuffham S-Gear. If high gain is your thing, nothing beats his ampsims. Pair them with some good impulses and you wont need any payware ampsims.

What was the guitar related board again, where tons of guitar related plugins are being beta tested, discussed and the likes? Also a good starting point.
